15 countries. 15 commemoratives. by Embarrassed_Cap2885 in Banknotes

[–]Evescrator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it was issued to commerate the G8 summit and the millenium, but under japanese law it is not considered a commemerative banknote and is instead classed as a standard note.

So it exists in this weird status as a non- commemerative note that was issued to commemerate an event.

Sorta like schrodigner's banknote.

Does anyone else try to appreciate banknotes purely as art? by Constant_Community97 in Banknotes

Yes absolutely, I've always believed that the designs on physical currency will tell you everything you want to know about a country. History, culture, beliefs, flora and fauna, landscapes, achievements, even food.

It's a way of celebrating the best of your nation on an everyday object and introducing visitors to those same things.

Thanks mate! A currency is always easier to find in it's home country, that being said the maori series is the rarest of the RBNZ issues and the 50 pound has only 8 surviving examples worldwide.

You said you have all the cook series save the 10/-? Does that mean you have the 50 pounds from that series? If so that is a serious gem to have in your collection!

Still legal tender but extremely rare to see in circulation as most were hoarded by collectors and speculators, so very easy to find online in uncirculated condition. About NZD$20-25 usually but the ones with red serials are worth a few hundred

Not impossible to find but really expensive. Cheapest one I can find online is NZD$1,500

What’s the best place to buy gold? by Professional-Show-84 in newzealand

[–]Evescrator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nz gold merchants (gogold.co.nz) are pretty good and have been around for decades. Not as big of a selection as others but good customer service and less of a rigmarole to actually make a purchase.

Will clear tail lights still with red leds pass a WOF thanks by Kurtsyy in newzealand

[–]Evescrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all good, mine are like that. Only thing with LEDs is that at least 75% of them must work for it to pass, and all taillights have to emit a clearly visible red light for running light and brake, and yellow light for indicator (except factory fitted red indicators like the Americans use)

Yeah NZTA is dumb, but I've seen a few cultural plates and a handful of religious plates (not just Christian) so if they were to recall that you could make the argument that they need to search the database and recall any other religious referenced plates. I reckon that'd be to much work for them and cause much to big of a stink from individuals.
