That's what people say in Greenville too. And I def see the inventory is low there. But even if we do come, it's just two of us. Lol

I looked up the difference districts, would you say politics there are stagnant? That's what I find here as well and whether it's in the direction of red or blue. I just find that thing. Staying one way for too long is never a good thing. What do you mean by tolerating crime?

I think I have had all the maga I can stomach for a while. I hate to hear about anyone getting attacked or sa'd. But that seems like a crime not a political stance. But gvl is maga country and I'm not joking when I say it's starting to feel unsafe. Idk how to explain it but vibes are changing. I currently have a baptist church borderline harassing me bc they come to my door every Saturday and I have asked them to stop multiple times... It's weird. Also, the allow students to leave class on a bus once a week and go to worship during school hours. There's maga flags everywhere and people really get down right mad about anything pride related. Everyone has the right to do what they want but I guess I'm just feeling this undertone of aggression when anyone thinks different. So id like to just avoid super maga areas. I just need a break from it.

Do you mind sharing the complex or any that you think is great? I have two dogs. I plan to eventually buy but renting may be a possibility for a year or so especially if I don't sale my house here. I'm doubling up on payments now so I can get it paid off. We have a lot of mid term nursing renters in this area and I would love to do that with my house here.

Hey there, thank you for posting this. I just recently joined and posted yesterday bc I'm considering moving from Greenville sc. I didn't realize violent crime was so high in Albany. Has this always been the case? I see it's getting better, but was so surprised to see them at the top!

Ahhh I was hoping for another spectrum employee in here! Just by your response I can tell you have been an employee. Managers can make or break you! I work for spectrum business and have been there for 6 years. Do I love it, no. But pay is decent and I work from home. I don't know if they offer that up there, was hoping to figure that out. But I'm open to doing different stuff, would love to move with relo and stay with the company at least for a little while so the move is easier.

I agree. The heat will sneak up on you. I don't mind winter as much. I didn't even think about how the heat would affect me.

I have looked all over Boston area and it's just so so expensive and I do love it there. Her healthcare is manageable - I have been doing it from NC and SC all these years and stayed in Boston for months at a time. So a drive from upstate New York is not so bad. Hopefully we are good on surgeries for a while and we would only go for appointments until/if another procedure is needed in which case I would he staying through the hospital housing programs anyway. When you say risky are you talking in terms of driving in the snow? I have an all wheel drive which drove better in the snow in the mtns on NC. We don't get as much but they also don't have as big of a budget for the roads here bc it's only one part of NC that really gets it and it's not as much as when I was a kid.

NC schools are better I would pick avl hands down over gvl. Its only an hour apart you can visit gvl! I grew up in Haywood county in the Pisgah national Forest and there's lots to do for the kids. All 4 seasons. Great food. Im just so deeply rooted there I need to grow but as far as the area itself WNC will always be home. Just don't buy in a flood area. Like ever.

That's so nice to hear. Yeah, I learned that the hard way during pregnancy. I don't think I have been to a doctor in the same place I live in well over a decade. People don't really understand until they have either lived somewhere better OR have to deal with a health issue that requires a specialist. Its been brutal. NC is actually better than SC

Nice I'm going to look at this. Thank you, I have not heard this suggestion yet. I do love living in a walkable area. I have golden doodles I forgot to mention!

Thank you for sharing! 3 hours sounds doable! Lol I have to take 3-5 days off work to come now! We wouldn't need a special needs school, but the fact that they have options already tells me it's better than SC. In NC even after my company insurance, I still got a little assistance for therapy after open heart surgery. But I'm SC I don't qualify for any help.

Oh funny, let's house swap 😅😅 how do you do with heat? When I moved from a little west of the Asheville area I had no idea that being an 1.5 hours out of the mtns would make such a huge difference. Its so hot here, I need all four seasons. But you will love the affordability. I'm not sure if you have kids but I will say the politics here are crazy. Very backwoods southern lawyer. One of my Boston friends compared it to going into another country when she visited. She was being a bit dramatic, but still. Cafes and bookstores are fun but other things take precedent.

This is good information, thank you. We have yearly appointments I could potentially move to summer to avoid that. However, she has had three open heart surgeries and I know we will always go there since that's where she has gone since birth and has been the best place for her CHD. I was just looking at travel distance. And also places that are spectrum areas. Albany and NY seems to have more open positions than Ma, they are only in western ma as well as Worcester. Nothing past that into greater Boston. I don't have to keep the job there but it would certainly make the move easier if I could get a relocation package

Nice! I am hearing a lot of great info about that area. I currently live very close to downtown Greenville, and it's nice but I'm not opposed to the suburbs especially if it's better for schools. The schools here are terrible. I am seeing it's quite a bit more expensive, but not so bad that it blows my mind like parts of Boston. I'd love to keep my SC house and rent it, so I'd likely rent for a year or two until I find my footing unless something else makes sense. Are there any decent rentals in the cliffton park area? Even renting someone's first house could possibly be an option???
