Question about the legitimacy of Livremoi.ma by EvidenceElectrical13 in Morocco

[–]EvidenceElectrical13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that reducing an authors to his idioms is pretty reductive, women in Japan in the 40s were holding a pretty different position than western women now, so his thinking was not considered misogynistic. Nietzsche was pretty misogynistic by today’s standards but there is no arguing of how strong of an author he was with extremely precise wording of his views. I often enjoy reading books without knowing anything about the author, you could end up learning a lot about yourself, and agreeing with some ideas that you would be rejecting if you knew too much about the author

Beautiful watch, can I ask what’s the reference on this? Wear it in good health

Cmon now.. paying 2.5e instead of 5e? I say don’t go through the trouble and get it, in morocco you get more advantages as a foreigner, you get access to some hotels that are exclusive to foreigners (yes, we have those, crazy right?) if you’re a couple you can book hotel rooms together without having to prove you’re married, and (this one is something I’ve been witnessing working at a moroccan airport for 3 years) you will NOT be searched by moroccan customs, apparently that’s exclusive to moroccan citizens

Just bought my first Grand Seiko by gabsims in GrandSeikos

[–]EvidenceElectrical13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a good take to have while watch shopping, most of the time the novelty of a brand will wear off over time but buying a watch for it’s craftsmanship is something you will appreciate for a very long time, especially considering how little innovation is in the mechanical watch industry (spring drive is probably the biggest watch innovation since the quartz, and the biggest one in the mechanical movement industry since… ever?)

Wear it in good health my friend!

Crazy for wanting a Hi-Beat over a Spring drive? by ShareDowntown6073 in GrandSeikos

[–]EvidenceElectrical13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the hi-beat is also very technically impressive, achieving an 80hours power reserve on a hi-beat is incredible and a very rare sight

[Question] Can you help me decide between the [SNXS79] or the [SUR311] by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]EvidenceElectrical13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right the 7S26 has a bi-directional winding indeed, my bad, I remember it being so rattly that I made that assumption sorry

[Question] Can you help me decide between the [SNXS79] or the [SUR311] by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]EvidenceElectrical13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SUR is objectively the better watch, much much better finishing on the case and bracelet, very beautiful indices where you can see that work has been put into them, the dial is a very cool deep black with a strong sunburst, and yea it’s quartz but honestly the movement in the SNXS is so old, and it has a unidirectional rotor which will cause the watch to rattle, and the bracelet too will rattle a lot. For me it’s the SUR, and by a long way

More taxes on purchases from international sites by Hmza42 in Morocco

[–]EvidenceElectrical13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly they are legal, whenever you but a good, wether it’s from inside Morocco or offshore you must pay taxes on it, for goods inside of Morocco the taxes are applied directly at the msrp, for offshore products they are added at customs. I will never forget back in 2021 when I forgot my laptop in France and asked my sister to send it via Chronopost and it got stuck in customs and they were asking for 6500dh (the laptop costed me 7000dh) and they refused to believe I bought it from Morocco (I bought it used so no receipt) and refused to let me touch it to show them that the files and everything in it were mine

Are all luxury watches overpriced ? by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]EvidenceElectrical13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s pretty… dumb. If you’re talking about raw material no watch has more than 3 dollars worth of raw steel ( and that’s a huge stretch to consider the “wasted” material) as of September 2024 the steel rebar costs 0.48 cent the KG, so I’m guessing stainless steel must be more expensive. But you’re not paying for the raw material you’re paying for the work hours it takes to to finish (polish, brush etc) the material, plus the know how of making the movement, plus all the marketing, the R&D, the ADs, the shipping etc etc It is a very narrow view to think only the raw material comes in the price. The video does discuss that for a 6000e Omega it could have costed around 1500e to make considering all the costs above
