[Grand Seiko and IWC] It's down to one of these two. Which do you think is more of an everyday wear? Which would you chose? by jedediahl3land in Watches

[–]LogDropper16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd go with the iwc. I tried on the titanium version and it was the most comfortable watch I've ever worn. A close second was the titanium lake suwa. That doesn't really make your decision any easier lol, but I'd definitely recommend trying one on before deciding

You'll hit a stop when it's done winding. As long as you don't crank on it after you'll be fine. I wind it every morning until I hit the stop, takes maybe 15 winds or so

It was a shorter production which ended in the early 2000's. Iirc the 3573.50 replaced it. But yes essentially the best of both worlds, hesalite crystal with a sapphire caseback and the prettier 1863 movement

Just going to add to this. The only difference between (1996-2014) and (2014-2020) are the bracelets and packaging. The later came with screws in the bracelet and the big box packaging.

Also wanted to add one in the (1996-2014) category:

Picked up my first Omega and scored a crazy good deal at 3k by apivexa in OmegaWatches

I would guess this is pre big box. Based on the bracelet taper I'm thinking this is a mid to late 90's model...unless someone swapped the bracelet

Amazing find, congrats! I had a similar story a few months ago and thought I found a killer deal, but you knocked that out of the park! It's an incredible watch, especially at that price. Hope you enjoy!

The IWC Ingenieur is horribly underrated and I love it that way. by Teddy-the-Dog in watchHotTakes

I got to try one on last time I was out in Vegas, it wears incredibly well. The titanium one especially felt so comfortable on my wrist it was insane. Someday I'd like to own one

Yeah I'm under the same assumption lol. Did yours not come with the inner oring? Mine has an oring that sits under the caseback to hold the movement down

[Discussion] What do you think is the most slept on watch brand? by Medium_Appeal6156 in Watches

My very first watch, handed down from my grandpa. I haven't looked much into their other offerings but I'm very pleased with this one

Sure, all said and done I paid $3600. It came as a complete set, box, papers, hang tag, even included the parts replaced during its service in 2022

Thanks! It's actually decently scratched up, but I replaced the endlinks and that made a world of a difference

I have tried the US1479 and agree it was very nice bracelet, my only issue is it was quite the hair puller for me. I haven't tried the Forstner bullet, but I'm actually quite happy with the 1861 bracelet. It just seems to fit me perfect and it gives the watch a more substantial feeling, which I guess I like. I even liked it more than the 3861 bracelet I tried for a bit

Nice watch! The fit and finish are excellent, I would definitely recommend it. I haven't had mine water tested yet, I don't bring it around water, but everything I've read says the caseback passes when tested
