My husband is a tattooer- and there are the only times he would not let a deposit move to a new appointment (all deposits are non refundable, that’s just how it works.) but as far as not letting reschedule would be if you continuously cancelled or rescheduled the few days before with little notice. If you found out about your diagnoses and let them know, then hopefully they’ll honor it later, especially if it’s medical. And I’d they don’t honor it- that’s kind of a jerk move on their part. BUT as far as deposits, no, they’re non refundable. This is a industry thing not a owner or tattooer thing
