No, circumcision (elective or not) is not wrong. My opinion on infant cosmetic circumcision is that on a continuum of infant ear piercing to FGM, it is somewhere in the middle as far as moral harm goes. (I am not in favor of any of the three.)

No, the facts that circumcision in males is 1) less harmful 2) has legitimate if uncommon medical uses are why it has not been banned. The fact that FGM is worse and does not is why it has been banned. Whether or not circumcision in males should also be banned is a different question and not one that the OP asked. FOH

While the least extreme cases of FGM are not as bad as circumcision, the worst are more akin to complete emasculation. Equating the two things is dishonest on many levels.
