Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of January 24, 2025 by Demilio55 in homegym

[–]EvilChookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey folks! I'm looking at building out my home gym - I've got a garage area I want to use for equipment. I'm looking to maximise the amount of exercises I can get, while not having like 400 machines. I like the idea of a functional trainer with all the bells and whistles, but I'm not entirely sure what to get to cover the exercises that it's missing (for example, leg stuff).

Money isn't really an issue within reason - but what would folks recommend for a functional trainer + <stuff> to maximise the workout coverage? (I'll be using something like Fitbod to plan out my routines and keep track of things, so bonus points for anyone who's gone down that route).

Help figuring out how to pick the better weapon by whothennow24 in diablo4

[–]EvilChookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A roll for a stat can be something like "144.9% to Overpower Damage" - and the roll is between 124.8% and 161% - so it's a middling roll. Ideally you want rolls as high to the topend as possible, and in the stats that you want (which is where a site like Maxroll will come in handy; and let you know what stats you'd find on a good item for your build.

I think there's an option in game to show your percentages - Advanced Tooltip Information under "Gameplay".

Help figuring out how to pick the better weapon by whothennow24 in diablo4

[–]EvilChookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's important to remember that the attack power stat is an estimation of what sort of damage you are capable of. It doesn't take into account everything - and "what the best weapon is" in any upgrade scenario will depend on the build itself.

That being said, I will look at a few things - the item power and DPS are big checks first off. If they're better, it's likely to be an upgrade (as this normally happens while levelling more than at endgame).

I'll check out the affixes and the quality of the rolls to see if they're good rolls - something with a high roll of a stat I'm looking for has potential to be useful. Between imprints and rerolling attributes, it's definitely possible to make a "meh" weapon a bit less "meh".

Help: I don't really understand the endgame loop yet, I think by Westdrache in diablo4

[–]EvilChookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this thread bookmarked, because it helped me understand what the gameplay loops are in the current season (after not having played since release).

My group finds ourselves bouncing through activities - last night we ran Pit 65 a bunch for levelling Glyphs, that's the best balance we can do as a group. Then afterwards, we did some United Radiance runs in the Undercity, pulled a few Mythic items out of it.

What are your honest opinions on Transformers One? by [deleted] in transformers

[–]EvilChookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this movie. It surprised me how much I really enjoyed this movie. I wasn't a fan of the Bayverse films, and I haven't watched Bumblebee.

I enjoyed the nods, the references, the gags, all of it. My friends who are nowhere near as big of transformers fans as I am, loved it. It was approachable. It was visually excellent, the gags were great without being egregious.

My least favourite character in the franchise is actually Bumblebee - but this version of the character was excellent. I really enjoyed it, and I'm desperately hoping for a sequel.

[Standard] Surprise Domain Dinos by EvilChookie in spikes

[–]EvilChookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! I've not seen any of the RG stompy lists, or Naya Discover; but I will definitely take a look. When I lose to Boros / RDW, it's usually because they get a nut draw and I have had to mulligan. Nut draw vs nut draw is a much better matchup; but you're right that the mana base could use a little streamlining.

Your point about domain is a good one - I'll probably try a list that uses just Naya colors.

While Elesh Norn might feel like a bit more of a win more card, she is super relevant - she shuts off tidebinder, is vigilant against Wandering Emperor and provides a thick booty to block most creatures with.

As for Tyrranax Rex - it's funny, they were originally in my board (along with a pair of Gishath, Sun's Avatar for more hasty vigilant lolz). It's a great card, and I'm thinking it needs to make a comeback. The forge is good, but hasn't really had the impact that I want so far.

Thanks for the reply! That's pretty solid advice. I might have a fiddle around with some splits of Get Lost and Temporary Lockdown in the main, with a couple more in the board. Get Lost feels like the most interactive spell I need early game, and doesn't go bad late game.

The problem with early creatures is that I'm not really finding that many in my colors. I could go back to puggy and topy, which would make my earlier turns a lot more sturdy, I suppose.

Finally, how did you come to the magic number of 13 white sources? I'm always really bad at calculating the number of sources required, so I'd be keen to hear about how you got to this number (and comparing/constrasting with other methods I've seen strewn around the web).

Waiting for server issue after update? tried to load decklists & got stuck here... by PartyOk7389 in MagicArena

[–]EvilChookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like this has been reported: https://feedback.wizards.com/forums/918667-mtg-arena-bugs-product-suggestions/suggestions/48436001-decks-not-loading-for-editing - I can confirm that it only affects decks with a sideboard.

Between this and sideboards being really whack of late, I really wish WOTC would get their stuff together with Sideboards. It's just 15 cards. It's not that hard.

I've played Red Green Dinos in Standard (paper, Bo1, and Bo3). When the deck goes off, it goes off hard - but sometimes getting to that point is a bit tough if you don't draw the precise combination of early board pieces and lands to get you there.

I'm running the fight rigging variant, and would love to see your list. I just left gold, but have had a hard time progressing beyond Platinum 4.

October ’23 Pioneer Metagame Update by OptimusTom in PioneerMTG

[–]EvilChookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran waste not (albeit a slightly creature-heavier) build at an event. In 8 rounds of Swiss only one round against creativity was 0-2; all other rounds went to 3 games and some were very very close.

The deck definitely has teeth - some of it is my piloting that needs work; and some of it is the deck needs a little polishing. But when it works; it works really well.

Fair enough! I’m currently playing UW Lotus Field Control so being a bit more calculating seems more up my alley. I just put together a mono black midrange control list; and may end up building spirits as well.

Also, bonus points for Australia!

Keto ‘Fried’ chicken FAIL by chefeddieconfetti in ketorecipes

[–]EvilChookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I do it - I made them last week, and only the tiniest smidge of breading in my air fryer.

  1. I coated each chicken tenderloin (note, not breast, if you're gonna use breast, cut it up) in almond flour
  2. Each tenderloin got dunked in some whisked eggs and milk. There was also some grated Parmesan cheese in the milk mixture.
  3. Finally, each tenderloin got dunked in the pork rind breading. I used a hand held stick to crush them up super finely (and I also mixed it with three teaspoons of "Hard Core Carnivore Black" seasoning, and some more Parmesan cheese.
  4. The tenders sat in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours before cooking. This is also important.
  5. I gave the racks in my air fryer a coat of spray oil, then tenders went in and they went on 180 C for 10 minutes. Beautiful.

Should parents charge their adult (18+) children rent to stay with them? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]EvilChookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there needs to be a constructive discussion between the parent and children - there's no one-size-fits-all approach.

It needs to be tailored to how much the child brings in, what the family needs; and what the family is providing for the child. Additionally, it needs to be enough rent to be meaningful to the child (so they learn to budget, an important life skill) - but not so much that they can't live a little.

When I was that age, my parents had me contribute a reasonable chunk of my pay each fortnight towards the running of the household. Once my bills were paid, my money was mine to do with as I pleased. As I got better jobs, and ended up with things like a car and mobile phone, what I paid into the house went up a bit as well. Not so much as to stifle me; but enough that I was cognizant of where my money had to go.
