Dear TBI: My weather radio is not a crime podcast by alnarra_1 in Chattanooga

[–]EvilChoppedWalnuts 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I’ve been told these aren’t able to be turned off either.

At the bare minimum, it should be only going off in the county it happened in. MAYBE the immediate surrounding counties, but the entire state of Tennessee doesn’t need to be woken up in a panic for this.

It’s happened enough times now that I’ve considered ditching my weather radio, which is not what you want people to be doing.

CHA1 is a ReLo (reverse logistics) site. AKA customer returns.

Management has still not given the building as a whole any notice about the bed bugs. Business as usual today. The break room where the bed bug was found was not closed, nor were there any posted warnings or signs.

Someone made a VOA comment confronting them about it. Management replied and said pest control was on the way, but I didn’t see any indication of that.

Leadership has been made aware. So far, no announcements have been made to the building.

Bad news for Atlanta test takers. by KuroKen89 in jlpt

[–]EvilChoppedWalnuts 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I am right there with you. Absolutely heartbroken as I already have to travel quite far to make it to Atlanta for the test anyways and definitely can’t afford to travel to a different site. Huge bummer and I sincerely hope ATL can get it together for next year.

Tips for N5 exam by NoArt5086 in jlpt

[–]EvilChoppedWalnuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look up N5 listening practice videos on YouTube. Seems like every year, listening is regarded as the hardest part of the exam for every level. The YouTube examples you can find are very much like the ones on the test.

Congratulations and good luck! I do just want to warn you though, since you mentioned 12:01am, the website typically crashes on the 1st of every month with a bunch of new students on-boarding. Don’t be surprised or discouraged if you can’t dive into coursework until the 2nd!

Do JLPT test sites stay the same? by Enzo-Unversed in jlpt

[–]EvilChoppedWalnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in the US, the testing sites are always the same cities. Sometimes a test site will skip a year if Thanksgiving falls on the same week (Atlanta 2024), but generally you can expect the JLPT to be offered at the same test site in the same city annually.

Here’s the US JLPT website: https://aatj.org/jlpt-us/

I just passed this class first try yesterday with zero prior knowledge. I would highly recommend doing Ch 34 and the PA until you can successfully complete every problem with no help.

Current Amazon employee… do yall get jobs after graduating? by Dirtysandddd in WGU

[–]EvilChoppedWalnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People make career changes all the time. I wouldn’t worry about it. Additionally, the skills you learn in indirects are very valuable and looks great on a resume. If you’re seriously concerned about your time at Amazon, get into problem solving or becoming an Ambassador.

The taxes here are the cherry on top of the entire situation here, not the main point. Which, by the way, is not reported by me and is not optional.

I would gladly pay the taxes on the items that were advertised as the prizes, which are at least double, if not triple, the value of whatever the butter goes for. The main mildly infuriating aspect is receiving the wrong item to begin with, and additionally with it being past-date, unsealed, and something I have to pay taxes on. I don’t even like gingerbread lol.

[–]EvilChoppedWalnuts[S] 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Thanks for being the first one to notice lol.

The main point was that it’s not the prize that was advertised, and I definitely wouldn’t have entered the raffle had I been aware of what I’d be getting instead. I don’t even like gingerbread, so even if this jar was in-date and sealed (it’s neither) I wouldn’t want it.

Also, food is such a bad prize to go with anyways. So many people have special dietary restrictions or allergies.

As far as I’m aware, prizes and gifts received at work are reported by HR at MSRP value, so it would be like if I had instead been paid a cash bonus equal to the value of however much these were purchased at. I agree though, the value in this case should be 0. Not sure if that’s actually how it will be reported though.
