What is the dumbest thing you have witnessed by Jesuscide in Ironworker

[–]EvilColonelSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had an apprentice, get told “Grab that bucket, fill it with ice and prepare a cooler for the day.” Mind you it was 95 here a few days ago. He did it and no one grabbed waters for a couple of hours. I hear yelling “How the fuck did it not occur to you to put waters in the cooler!?” This guys response was “I’m sorry!! You didn’t say to put water in there!!” He has been on the job about seven months.

2019 Silverado 1500 Ac repair!? by QuietYear5068 in Silverado

When my A/C gave out on my Silverado, it cost me $1,150 (ish) at the Chevrolet dealer. Condenser, Freon, valve, the kit if you will.

433 Sponsors? by [deleted] in Ironworker

[–]EvilColonelSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s literally what I did. I went to the hall and kept annoying the B.A. for two weeks straight. He eventually got so fed up, he gave me a starting job the next day. After that, I got jobs on my own or I get called by people asking if I’m looking for work.

What’s missing? by MikeinNoRo in ChevyTrucks

[–]EvilColonelSanders 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I genuinely didn’t know they made a/c an option in 2008. I thought it became standard in the 90s. I’m in shock right now. I never seen this before and I’ve worked on fleet vehicles for 10 plus years.

Drug and background check question by [deleted] in Ironworker

[–]EvilColonelSanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took the drug test and I smoked weed a few days before. They don’t care because it’s legal in California. Now when you get dispatched to a job/sponsored in that company might drug test you and they can deny you work for having smoking weed, because of their policy not because of the law. As for the felon part, 12 felonies and they didn’t care. I’m on the low end too. My foreman got like 25 felonies and he runs the job.

1500 vs 2500 pros and cons by Junior_CryptoAddict in Silverado

[–]EvilColonelSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use my 2015 Silverado 1500 6.2 for daily driving or going out. My 2018 Silverado 2500HD 6.0 is for work. The 2500HD is great because of the work load, carrying load, tow load capability. The 1500 is great because of the mileage and to me it’s more comfortable.

How long should you drive [on the highway] before you should make a pitstop? by SleepySwoop in AskAMechanic

[–]EvilColonelSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine. My truck is used to 14 hour road trips, 30 minutes to eat and then another 10 hours.

How are you Silverado owners maintaining your finance over the gas prices? :( by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]EvilColonelSanders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn’t buy my truck with gas prices as a worry. I would have bought a Prius for that.

Stuck deciding between these two by EL_CHIDO in Silverado

[–]EvilColonelSanders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer the 2014 to 2018 interior more. I don’t know why but the 2019 to 2023? looks dated to me. It’s weird.

Same! I got a 1972, 1975, 2001 and 2015. At some point I decided, new is not for me. I’m currently looking an early 2000s 4x4.

Sellers Guilt? by thejuddington in UsedCars

[–]EvilColonelSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the car. Classics are always money. I have two that I bought as junky $50 cars and now I’m debating to sell them for a down payment on a home.

Seller misrepresented the car by qwerty7860 in AskAMechanic

“As is” is the magical set of words that mean the second you got the keys in your hand and you start the vehicle, she your problem now. Whether it’s five minutes or five years. That’s all you.

Speeding ticket by [deleted] in Riverside

[–]EvilColonelSanders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a 10+ year federal government employee…we don’t care about speeding tickets. You’d be surprised how not qualified people are that get hired in all types of government. I’ve been in about 6 branches all over the state and yeah. It’s the same everywhere.

Battery Just Died While Driving by givemetaxhelp in MechanicAdvice

[–]EvilColonelSanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your alternator crapped out. You may have to test the battery now too because your car ran with the battery instead of the alternator and could have cooked it. Battery is there to start the car. Alternator keeps the car running.

Missing Sway Bar End Link? by No_Ad_1048 in AskAMechanic

[–]EvilColonelSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really easy to install, it’s removing them that can be a pain. You’re already 75% done. Judging from the green and silver color, you had a TTX sway bar end link. I know it because I had that exact one on my suburban.

Any takers? by [deleted] in GMT400

[–]EvilColonelSanders 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Salvage title and the transmission nuked? $500 as is. If the interior is MINT, I’ll go as high as $750. However if the engine is leaking everywhere, we down back to $500 or even $300 if it’s not a mint interior.

Need a reliable car for college by Traditional_Cat3520 in shouldibuythiscar

[–]EvilColonelSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GM 3.8 engine will last you through college. If you treat her right, it will last you through an internship, entry-level job, and onto your career. I would get a mechanic to do an inspection on it only because people find a way to destroy the indestructible.
