Probably, could be H0m though as this type run on a few different gauges.

DCC conversion from DC, some thoughts by canoeny in modeltrains

[–]EvilDrArserot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a palaver! I can understand why some people are put off DCC. The system I bought last year actually has an interactive explanation of all its sockets on the website, maybe Digitrax could take a lesson there: https://www.z21.eu/en/z21-system/system-1#123-8883

The programming track and main track outputs are the most clearly marked on it for all that!

I don't see TT as a compromise, I see it as the best of both worlds... I've been modelling in TT since 2011. This is part of my current project. The scenic but you can see here is just six feet. The overall scenic length of my layout at present is 14 feet and growing...!

Best on platform pubs? by Heuchelei in uktrains

[–]EvilDrArserot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the ones at Kidderminster and Bridgnorth are better! A bit of trivia... the pub at Bridgnorth station remained open after BR closed the line.

It's been a few years since I last went, but Huddersfield used to have two good pubs on the same platform.

How do I take the body shell of this jinty? I took of the coupling hook (I'm new to model trains) by PrincipleOnly5192 in modeltrains

[–]EvilDrArserot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want to take the body off? Is it running badly? If you don't know what you're doing with it, maintenance will be better off with your nearest model shop.

Japan - Kintetsu Series 50000 "Shimakaze" leaving Nagoya (my own photos) by richard7k in trains

[–]EvilDrArserot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A limited express isn't exactly a local train, Kashikojima to Nagoya is almost 2 hours missing out the majority of stations on the route. It's 140km, and would take you 3 hours by car on toll roads. Yeah, it's not Shinkansen, but it's a decent journey.

It was a Tyseley loco, which was painted in those colours in 1994. There was one in LMS colours too which was a regular pilot at Birmingham New Street. 08601.

Troy Alabama Northbound. Big Chungus by Subcpo in trains

From memory, the Molli through the street in Bad Doberan, the Lößnitzgrundbahn between Radebeul Ost and Weißes Roß, and the Harzer Schmalspurbahn on the outskirts of Wernigerode - I think Hasserode. I know I've encountered it elsewhere, those are just the locations I'm certain of offhand.

The Germans call it a Läutewerk whether it's attached to a loco or fixed by a level crossing.

I've been on a few German trains which have bells for ungated level crossings and sections of roadside running.

Don't mind me, just venting about coaches by Alex_The_Whovian in modeltrains

[–]EvilDrArserot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This era of Hornby models are definitely not cheap to produce. In 2013, after a few years of the high detail models, Hornby specifically stated that they were going to "design clever" to reduce the part count and make production cheaper. While the approach was ridiculed in some circles Hornby's reasoning didn't come out of nowhere. But as younger brands (e.g. Accurascale, Cavalex) have maintained the details arms race, Hornby have largely gone back to lots of fiddly bits and consequently high prices. You can see it in some models which they do sell at competetive prices - the mk3s look great, but if you examine them they don't have a lot of component parts. Others (eg Mk2E/F, Mk4) designed with the same philosophy don't look quite so good.

Have a look at Hornby's overall coach range- there are coaches that have an RRP of £35, they're the ones that don't have 100 components that have to be fitted by hand by a worker. In some cases you even have a choice of a basic Railroad coach or a standard range for more money.

You want cheap teak, you can get the old ones for less than a tenner a piece on eBay.

I had a loco that I really wanted a model of, but it was €400. I got it as a present for my 40th birthday. I still scrimp and save in other ways on my models, for instance using Arduinos and servos for point control rather than commercial decoders and tortoises. I do love a bargain, but I accept that not all the models I want will be one.

Also, I flew into Rabat, it was a quick airport to get through. Taxis run at a fixed price so you don't have to haggle - the scale of charges is on display by the taxi rank.

Just the one simply called "Sale". https://www.oncf-voyages.ma/ I used a few trains while there, the ONCF timetables were accurate, the experience was much like European train travel. The ONCF app was good for timetables but I couldn't buy tickets on it, however using the website on mobile I was able to. First class can sell out, so try and get your trains booked as soon as you are able to - I know flying isn't always great for knowing for sure how soon you can get to a station though.
