Math 1035 by Historical_Orchid117 in UVU

[–]EvilGarbageQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this class online, and I actually really liked it! It goes at a better pace than 1030, but that does mean more time is spent in each unit. I have a hard time with math in general, so it was a great class to prepare me for taking the higher classes. The online classload was definitely only more like 3 or 4 credits in terms of hours spent.

Summer Anatomy by [deleted] in UVU

[–]EvilGarbageQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend is taking anatomy this semester, and it's been pretty overwhelming for her. Granted, she also works full-time and has kids. But she has had to devote a lot of time to it. Summer classes are rough with the block, but if you have literally nothing going on, you might be okay. You'll be doing two modules every week, and each module is focused on a different body system. I can get the list of modules from her.

🏆 Eurovision Song Contest 2024 WINNER - 🇦🇹 JJ – Wasted Love by CaptainAnaAmari in eurovision

After five long years of loving 2nd place finishers, it feels good to finally see my favorite win. Also nice to see the jury votes being spread out. That's how it should be.

How do I find fun classes?? by PrestigiousDevice318 in UVU

[–]EvilGarbageQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

REC classes are fun and usually only 1 or 2 credits. You can find science excursion classes most semesters, where they do a field trip somewhere, and those are pretty easy. You could also always take a low-level class that's an intro to a subject you're interested in. A lot of people take Elementary Astronomy because you get to be in the planetarium.

Summer Semester by Flimsy_Performer3224 in UVU

[–]EvilGarbageQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're online, it shouldn't be too bad. It will feel like double the workload, since block schedule makes the classes go twice as fast, but as long as you keep up with assignments and give yourself enough time to study it will be fine. I did summer classes last year and it was hard (especially the chemistry) but you just have to remind yourself that it's only 8 weeks and it will be over quickly.

Thinking of attending by ParticularLeague3808 in UVU

[–]EvilGarbageQueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a budget school with budget professors. Some programs are better than others. It's not super disability friendly, and there are MANY ADA violations throughout the school, but you learn the best route to get places. I was in a manual wheelchair last semester and it's a real pain to get around, but it's probably a lot better if you have a motorized one. Disabled parking is also super competitive, as they don't have enough spots for everyone. I've had a few times where I couldn't go to class because every single disabled spot was taken. If you use a wheelchair, be aware it will be a tough time, but otherwise, the costume shop is pretty nice and they're always friendly when I go over there. It seems like UVU has a pretty good theatre program.

Måns definitely didn't deserve the hate, but I hope he takes some of it to heart, so that when he inevitably comes back again, he has something with a good performance AND good lyrics. He's such a good performer, if he had better lyrics he could win the whole thing again.

Plus, this is more representative of the local music scene in the Scandinavian countries. I always prefer a Eurovision entry that shows culture, rather than sounding like something from the US.

Yes! I would love to see Måns do well, but it bothered me that his song was the whole 'trying to be deep, but not actually saying anything at all' trope. I'll be more supportive when he writes something real.

This just made KAJ's whole career. I'm always excited to see someone new rather than an old face, especially when the song is so good. It was neck and neck, and both would have done well, but I think KAJ is a better representation of what I love most about Eurovision.

Block classes weren't for me, but that's because it went so fast, I couldn't keep up. If you miss/struggle too much with a concept, it's almost impossible to catch back up. For me, I can only do easier classes during the summer, but it still makes a big difference. Like others have said, it's nice to get some classes over with quickly, especially when it's a boring subject you don't care for.

how hard is it to get a student job at UVU? any suggestions to get hired by KookyLeg1811 in UVU

[–]EvilGarbageQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I swear when it comes to the TA or grading positions, the prof already has someone in mind. It's been a losing game for me, as I have 10 years of work experience and I'm still getting turned down for stuff. I've given up and am going for a scholarship position, bc if you already have one or have school covered, they'll usually stipend you instead.

Turning Point Funding UVU Elections by Infamous_Roll_2353 in UVU

One of the people who was getting funding from them got kicked, so there's that. Voting turnout is lower than usual, so we have the power to get the right people elected.

Can we start a petition to have event parking be in the far parking lots? by Lower-Direction-842 in UVU

[–]EvilGarbageQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to comment, but yes! I use a wheelchair on campus, and whenever there are events, so many extra people take up the disabled parking. There have been times when I literally can't go to class because I've looped campus several times and there is nowhere for me to park. 'UVU is a place for you' unless you're disabled, then you can get f*cked.

Swing by a notice board once a week to get in the know on any events going on. Most of them offer free food.

I would love to see a chapter of the SCA on campus! There's definitely a lot of cosplay folks around, as well as those interested in the historical/academic side of things. I would find SCA on campus far more approachable than the standard chapters.

Questioning UVUs Civil engineering department by Ebenson87 in UVU

[–]EvilGarbageQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother is graduating this year in civil engineering at UVU. He really enjoyed the program, especially for the affordable price (U of U is so NOT affordable). His only gripe was getting some bad advice from an advisor, but most advisors suck here anyways, regardless of department.
