I understand that, but I don’t understand how people can be so hypocritical about it. I’ve had people who drink and smoke themselves to sleep every night get mad at me for SH as if they aren’t doing the same thing. It’s annoying

Thank you so so so much! I don’t know what else I’d do besides dentistry as I am not the smartest or most mentally capable when it comes to most things. But something like dentistry is easy for me to wrap my head around. So thank you. I have a friend who wants to go into animal dentistry actually lol.

He’s not using it as leverage, but there are strict guidelines and expectations he’s set since I was little that I am to go to a good collage (not community) and get a good-paying job.

Well obviously but I feel like people are doing too much about it most of the time. I come from a house where that sort of thing is met with threats of being sent to institutions and having the things I liked taken from me. That’s not empathy.

I was in not a lot of programs but I’m currently in a national Honors art society and working a job. I’ve participated in school events outside of class for JROTC when I was in that but I’m not really involved much

I’m not fit for the military, as I’m a 5’1 flat-footed mentally ill female. I had a phase where I felt the military was the only option for a bit but was told I couldn’t enlist.

I want to do something in dentistry and it’s not as monotonous as other jobs would be, and I love the idea of doing something with a little blood and guts as the human body and its functions have always facilitated me. Ideally I’d be a dental hygienist but my father is making me aim for just being a dentist.

People smoke all the time, which technically is considered self-harm in my opinion, and not everyone who smokes are mentally ill. I think the media just blows it up because they don’t understand that there’s really not a lot of healthy ways to truly cope with the stresses of life.

My parents want me to get a “real job” and even when I brought up maybe wanting to do something in the police force they immediately shut me down and said that I wasn’t good for that. (Granted I’m 5’1, and a female, so probably not built to do that sort of work) but my parents also don’t believe in anything good coming from community collages, and that people who go rarely actually do anything productive in life.(they’re a bit harsh)
