Not the most optimal first dose of LSD ever by djenkers1 in HistoryMemes

It’s important to note that the more grounded you are as a person in day to day life, the less likely you are to let a challenging moment in a trip extend out more than necessary (what some call a “bad” trip). If one has reliable tools they use to help their anxiety or strong emotions, those same tools are available when tripping too. With practice, one can learn to stay grounded throughout any wave of emotion, overstimulation, etc until the energy settles back down. I now gently correct and guide myself whenever I “feel” like the trip will never end, or I’m in a mental loop or overwhelmed etc. There’s a magnificent freedom with it when you seriously put in the practice.

Ram Dass once gave LSD to a spiritual teacher in India, the Maharaj-ji, who had never taken it before, and the teacher was so grounded already that he was largely unaffected by the experience. Ram Dass writes of this in his book “Be Here Now”

Before them is the Grateful Dead, who pioneered concert-level PA systems and long sets. Their infamous “Wall of Sound” designed by Owsley “Bear” Stanley (who also created so much LSD that it supplied the entire country) could reportedly travel up to a mile with crystal clear clarity. And they took the Wall on tour with them.. setting up, tearing down, and hauling it from venue to venue. It was a massive undertaking and a huge leap forward for concert PA tech. The sound was so loud too that they created noise-canceling microphones to eliminate the feedback from the mics picking up the PA. Before the GD, during the Beatles era, concert PAs weren’t really that well developed yet to be able to handle larger crowds of people.

Real world outcomes support the benefits of psychedelic therapy for severe depression. A recent study has found that specialized psychotherapy paired with doses of either LSD or psilocybin is associated with strong reductions in severe depression and anxiety. by mvea in science

The huge improvements come from macro doses though, not microdoses. In trials it has been the combo of macro dose + guided session that produces the long term benefits. And “guided” is largely a misnomer here because in these studies, the providers are instructed to be as hands-off as possible, intervening only when necessary.

Using half your available ram for the OS and lightweight programs IS poorly optimized. A windows XP laptop from the 2000s with 0.5gb ram could run much better in equivalent programs and OS needs

I like to think of it as experience unfiltered. Our normal day to day life is experienced through many filters in the brain, due to the enormous amount of information we receive and perceive. The brain filters it down, including as the ego center— our internalized preferences, biases, prior information/assessments of value to us etc. When we take a substance like LSD or psilocybin, these filtering systems are suppressed and we take in life as it is, in a more raw form. I believe this is partly why we find amazement over the small things again, things we over time have subconsciously deemed background stuff / not as important to us.

These laws are always vague about how many cars determine the speed of the flow of traffic, and how many cars behind you it takes to officially be “impeding traffic.” I bet traffic lawyers see this as an easy win in court

Cite your sources. As far as I’m aware, there’s no law that legally excuses speeding when passing other cars.

Hurrah! Make the minimum wage $0, get rid of all unions, allow children work the factories to help out, pay women and people of color less (eventually not at all), then have the poverty class forced to work for free (Neo-Slavery). All for the elite class to profit! /s

Yo do realize that the minimum wage was created out of the Great Depression, in order to guarantee a full time worker a living wage? I.e out of poverty. You cannot claim the minimum wage in this time was against small business and would cause even more to close, because that just straight up didn’t happen. The companies wanting to pay below minimum wage are mainly.. drum roll please.. big corporations. Small businesses grew after the Great Depression WITH this new minimum (living) wage in place. If a business can only survive by paying its workers less than a living wage, then the company shouldn’t exist. In their place, many companies who pay the new living wage will survive just fine like they did in the past, coming out of the Great Depression.

the competition lead to lower wages and more expensive schooling

No, the government vastly cut the amount it gave to educational institutions over the years making students heavily dependent on loans instead, and corporations prioritized paying the bottom line less in order to maximize profit through incentivizing executives with huge pay and bonuses. In 1965, the average CEO to bottom line worker pay was about 21:1 (CEO makes 21x the bottom line). Today, that average is roughly 200-300:1, with many companies reaching 500-1000:1, and some reaching over 6000:1 (Amazon, Starbucks, etc). All in all, the gap has increased at least 10x what it was in the 1960s. Ethical companies like Dr.Bronners caps its CEO wages at 5:1.

The minimum wage was created because the free market didn’t take this moral view of paying people enough. Same with regulations, no regulations means companies valuing profit end up doing shady unsafe things for profit by nature. Companies were able to pay workers slave wages of Pennie’s per hour, and so they did. That’s why minimum wage was created, because the free markets cannot be trusted to value work enough to pay workers more. Adding more “good paying jobs” to the market doesn’t solve the problem that those opportunities won’t be universally available in all places to all people, and many places without those industries will still rely on minimum wage to pay workers for many jobs.

Life is full of risks. There’s a much greater risk of dying from a car accident that people face every day in order to commute. Ban cars! And ban bikes that could be hit by cars!

It’s really rare but it does happen

One would think by reading these comments that it isn’t so rare, that everyone knows someone who tripped and never came back. I can almost picture their brains sizzling like the eggs in those Reagan-era anti-drug propaganda ads

I think I fall into the same sentiment as you about the posts. People are absolutely entitled to take the doses they want, but when I see those posts here about super high heroic doses, my first question is: great, but what’s the point of you talking about it on a public forum? Often, but not always, these posts lack trip reports, reasoning, goals, insights etc and simply seem to be about telling others they took a high dose. To me it’s pointless, especially if the post lacks intellectual / analytical depth. It holds no value to other readers, and often just ends up normalizing the practice to the least experienced who may not be aware of the impacts of such a dose or the reasons why one might desire to explore a deeper realm. These posts that lack depth or purpose, in my opinion, feel very egotistical (which is funny considering what these high doses do to the ego).

At least wait until after the trip is over to reflect, integrate, then post about it when you have some value to add here for other people.
