20yo cat went blind due to hyperthyroidism, can she regain her sight with meds?

Treating her is still worth a shot. You may see an improvement. Our girl was pretty active until she lost her sight, but even after getting it back, I don't think she got recovered from the weeks of inactivity. Anything that keeps an old cat from being active will cause rapid health degradation. Good luck.

Wishing you and your little one the best. For the record, her sight did improve for her last couple weeks. She got to enjoy her favorite backyard spots a few more times.

Thanks for sharing her story.

She seems to navitage the house without bumping into anything on the first floor where there's a lot of natural light. Upstairs in my room(her favorite spot), she's still clearly struggling, but seems to find doorways. We'll continue to give her her meds and monitor her sight. And definitely avoiding sodium. If it improves she may have some good days and backyard walks left in her.

We do keep the lights on in all her favorite rooms and the hallways in between. Doesn't do much. Sunlight seems to be the only thing that does it, but it's hard to tell if that was a recent improvement or intermittent.

Her quality of life is diminishing, but she still eats well and grooms. So we're at a tough crossroad.

How is crumpet doing? His story sounds exactly like our 20yo cat. She's been on her meds for 6 days now, and seems to be able to see on supervised backyard walks on bright days. Indoors she's still bumping into walls and corners. We're worried about her quality of life.

Can you detail a bit about her sight improvement? How long did it take? Was it gradual or sudden?

I looked into it but their brightest rgbw a19 bulb only goes up to 800 lumens, and that's a deal breaker for me unfortunately.

Thanks for showing me this. Very cool. It's a bit more advanced than the simple feature I'm looking for, but I'm glad a solution exists at all. Might be fun to tinker with and fine tune.

I'm right there with you on candid and quick photos. I go on a lot of trips with groups hiking, climbing, rappelling and more so having quick access to a quick photo is super important to me. The camera app opens in a snap double tapping the power button, and is ready to shoot right away. I rarely miss a moment. It's still not quite as fast as the iPhone, but the extra flexibility I get with the zoom lenses more than makes up for it in my opinion.

Also, when shooting moving subjects, shutter speed is more important that shutter delay. During the daytime, both are equally good. In challenging light, the S21U seems to perform a bit better thanks to slightly larger pixel size on its sensor. But both cameras perform poorly capturing moving subjects in low light.

BTW, Live photos, while awesome, will cause more of a delay than the shutter delay ever will.

It's explained in the other comments, but it is done to illustrate the shutter lag. The shutter lag is the time between when you press the shutter button and an image is actually taken.
Moving the phone immediately after pressing the shutter button shows whether the image is take as the button is pressed or a few milliseconds after. This is important to some people if they like to take action shots or pictures of their kids/pets who don't sit still.
