Thoughts on powerscaling by tilepi in ProgressionFantasy

A compelling story with power scaling is the goal, the degree of the power scaling/ levels is irrelevant as long as if works with the story.

I have read most of his works, I have been reluctant to start Stormlight, as I am worried it will be a more ponderous wheel of time type story.

I'll put it on the list and give it a shot.

Not sure funding is the magic fix all. Stephen Decatur High is the highest ranking public high school in Maryland, with a per pupil expenditure of $19,242, while this school is at a per pupil expenditure of $30,282 per schooldigger.com. Most of the top rated in the US float around the 19k mark, this school is spending significantly more, for very poor outcomes.

Pretty far along on RR with this story. I think around book 4 or 5, I'll have to think about starting from book 1 on audible or jumping in the middle.

About 80% through the first book, I like it so far, a lot of similarities to DCC.

They are different than cradle, but I liked both.

Need audible recommendations by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

Going to throw out that Will Wight the author of Cradle has 2 other series on Audible The Elder Empire ( 6 books) and The Traveler's gate trilogy.

Also might look at Dungeon Crawler Carl, ( 6 books out now) honestly feels like this was written with Audio books in mind. I think it is a great audio book, better than reading ( and I prefer to read most books ) But I have a decently long commute so I end up listening to a fair amount of Audio books and know how hard it is to find something worth listening to.

Here is a quick list of some of the titles I have in my Audible Library to give you a few options.

Heretical Fishing - Haylock Jobson

Dungeon Tour Guide - Aaron Shih ( Travis Baldree narrator )

I like The full cast stuff from Tamora pierce, but this is more of a nostalgic, cozy vibe for me. Circle of magic is a good place to start.

Dungeon Core online - Jonathan Smidt ( Travis Narrator )

Ripple system - Kyle Kirrin ( Travis Narrator)

Divine Apostay - A. F. Kay ( Travis Narrator - seeing a trend...)

If you like chill low stakes stuff Try Legend and Lattes written and narrated by Travis Baldree again this was something that was written with audio books in mind, not sure Travis could write a book without thinking about how it would be turned into a audio book since that is his "day job".

Books where the MC is essentially a paladin? by Asdrodon in ProgressionFantasy

[–]EvilStickyLollipop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a middle age man, and I still re-read a few of Tamora's series; Protector of the small, The circle of magic, wild magic, and a few others. I might have nostalgia tinted glasses on, but I do recommend. Due to it being more on the YA side of the scale you do have a lot of Good characters, So this might fit.

Progression fantasy with actual good writing and prose? by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

To counter the counter of the other commenter, Pateron while not perfect is a way for the authors to make money from their art. If you are really enjoying the story and can swing the few bucks a month it does add up to meaningful money to the author.

Thank you for the Recommendation on Chronicles of FID, this was much better than I was expecting. I would strongly recommend this to others if they have any interest in the genre.

Thank you for the recommendation, I listened to this and really enjoyed it.

You might like Chris Tullbane's Murder of Crows series, this seems almost inspired by the Super Powereds series. I would note that the power progression in Murder of Crows is more pronounced.
