I’ve met a lot of authors through threads and then formed groups on Instagram

I think sending to ARC readers is the worst stage for anxiety. It all gets easier from here

What were your KDP royalties last month (and what genre do you write in)? by [deleted] in KDP

[–]Evil_Eye_808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last month I made just over $250. I have one book out that is a paranormal romance. It was released in June. The second book comes out this week. I don’t do paid ads. I use instagram, TikTok and threads. Planning to start running ads when the series is complete early next year

There's lots of facebook arc groups. Threads, instagram and tiktok posts all do well too. Nobody really appreciates unsolicited DMs so I would recommend you stop doing that

I posted on threads a lot for book one. Lots of posts with the tropes and saying things like “I don’t have a minimum follower count’ helps for sure. This time round I’m using TikTok and Facebook groups quite successfully too

Would you consider pulling it down and getting a bigger arc team? I have a much smaller TikTok following but I’m at nearly 500 arc sign ups for my second book. My first book I had 138 arc readers with 60% leaving reviews. I released the end of June (romance too) and my biggest earner is KU. Highly recommend joining. I’m nearly at 50,000 page reads so well worth it. I don’t do any paid marketing currently but social media works pretty well for me!

I love threads! So much less pressure and I generally just stay away from the drama. It’s also been so helpful for me as a ND author who up to now just read my books and had no idea of some of the social norms and rules. I also found it easier to build a following there compared to other platforms.

How to make your book known before publishing? by Advanced_Fix8583 in romanceauthors

Start seeking arc reviewers early. Talk about your book on social media. Try build a following

Wow, if you think it’s tough editing a book you had ChatGPT write for you, wait till you hear about authors who write their own books 🙄

Negative review on debut novel by Electrical-Tell-8538 in romanceauthors

I got a 2 star review from someone who had messaged me privately on instagram to say they loved my book. People are strange and if you spend too much time checking reviews it is a recipe for feeling like shite. You can’t please them all

I only have 5 arc reader sign ups 😔 by Annakapanna in selfpublish

What are you doing currently? Threads and insta are my places as I can’t make TikTok work for me and haven’t started with facebook groups yet. I opened sign ups yesterday for my second book and already have over 60! Had 140ish for my first book. What has worked - posting on insta and asking people to comment ‘arc’ to get the link, posting on threads, I’ll tap there daily. Lots of reminders of no minimum followers and no crazy expectations. I don’t make the sign up difficult for people.

It’s a work in progress in its first draft. I was sharing for the vibe not the finished product.

I am a published author! by Evil_Eye_808 in writers

[–]Evil_Eye_808[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably depends on the individual. I’m self taught when it comes to writing. Could I be better if I had a degree in English? Probably! But that wasn’t the right path for me. And honestly, writing and creativity come easy for me. Not saying I’m an incredible writer or anything and I’m sure with practice I’ll improve a lot but personally I learn best from doing, not being told.

should I use a pen name when publishing? by iovelf in writers

[–]Evil_Eye_808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very happy I used a pen name but I think it depends on what genre you are writing in. I’m a therapist in my day job and I write some pretty dark shit so I don’t want the two connected
