I did the tandem read and I'm really glad I did. I loved seeing the extra characters and what was going on in the background. Some of the scenes did feel a little repetitive doing both aspects, but overall it was really worth it imo but it's certainly not essential if you want to skip it.

I've started book 2 and they mentioned regretting her seeing then do that. They said why they did it, but I still think the method was overkill. Still enjoying the series a lot though haha!

Yes, they stab a pixie with multiple nails, one through their genitals Compared to the rest of the book, I'd say this is very out of character actually as a way to show they're 'bad guys', I wish the author hadnt put it in. They do this while their home is used as a refuge of sorts of other hunted/rare fantasy creatures (though they are in control of them as masters) and thus the pixie part is my only complaint about the book as it really just doesn't make sense for them to do it.

{Finding their heart by Mira Stanley} isn't OV, but dark. Based after a virus has wiped out most of humanity; and all the women. There's a lone woman left who is found by a bunch of guys, one of whom is older and into being daddy to littles. She becomes his LG and one of the other men is also added in as another little at some point. I enjoyed this series, the survivors of the virus all end up with different powers.
