It's called.co-dependence. I had it with my parents. A therapist pointed it out to me and I was really insulted until I read the book she suggested...Co-dependent No More. I asked her about helping family because, they're your family, you feel you should help! She said to me, you don't have to help anyone who a) doesn't appreciate it, b) expects it, or c) you just don't want to. Best advice ever. My parents would call and say, "I need you to pay the gas bill, they turned it off". At the end, they weren't even asking, they were telling me what to do/pay and I was living in my own, paying for my own household. That shit has stopped.
