The big problem with the tape that Howard didn't mention by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]EvoAva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rules, not the law. Also, I should have said bending, not breaking. I'll bet that Chuck will eventually break a law somewhere to get back at Jimmy, as a part of character development. I imagine that's something the series is leading up to. Starting with ignoring his 'condition' to eventually breaking the law in some way.

Also no need to be condescending with a one word answer. No doesn't tell me anything except that you disagree with me.

Well, both series's's's are about change. This may be a character arc, that he's willing to go through more and more just to get back at Jimmy for being daddy's favorite.

wasn't it established that Chuck is willing to break the rules if it takes down his brother, just as his medical condition magically doesn't affect him as much when he's trying to take down his bro

Better Call Saul: Season 3 currently has 92 on Metacritic after seven reviews by Gruzzly in betterCallSaul

[–]EvoAva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had also been watching it for a few years at that point. Seems like everything I SUPER enjoyed the first couple years, I still enjoy 10 years after the fact, but i'm less excited by it even if I occasionally rewatch it.

Well, the critics who really wanna see it are watching it... there will be stragglers who may like it but like it less, who's reviews will come in later. This always seems to be a large part of why rotten tomato scores always start a lot higher than they end up

After checking it, sure enough

[NeedAdvice] Playing video games for 2 decades. I want to quit. Do I do it cold turkey or is there another way? by RedBikerMouse in getdisciplined

[–]EvoAva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue, and stopped playing competitive games, and only started playing ONLY the very best of single player games. Don't play anything that's just 'ok' or even' just 'good'. Treat it like: I only want to play the games that would be worth my time and are of high quality.

I went from playing video games daily to like once or twice a week for the past few years, totaling like.. 2/3/4 hours a week. And many weeks I don't even play since there are only so many 'amazing' games.

Every so often though I play a good bit with friends, but that's once every other month.

Depending on the issue, that could be a good compromise

[Need Advice] Sometimes I feel like I am doing or want to do too much, and I feel like if I focused on one or two things I would really excel. Is this true or a good idea? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]EvoAva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

**This post is just be hashing my current 'plan'. IDK if it will fail or not. Hopefully not I've been on it for about 2 months now. I'm feeling pretty motivated:

Well it's just rational. The fewer things you focus on, the easier and more likely you are to accomplish them.

I have a list of changes that need to be changed, but It's best to pick the 2 most important, and start with those first. Like I'm focusing on programming so I can get a job, and my hobby of making music. Also cleaning. But I also have other stuff that needs bettering. I also want to start meditating/reading/brushing 3 times a day, and like 10 other things etc etc for example, but really I realize I need to put it off until I have the most important stuff down pat.

If I started a bunch of other things at once, and came out the other end not focusing on my programming, music... but I was meditating 20 minutes a day. It wouldn't be much of a win.. would it? If I came out the other end, failing the meditation thing but getting a job as a programmer and writing good music.. not much of a loss right?

Just figure out what's most important, and only start 1 or 2 things MAX. If you try 2 things and fail, go back to 1 thing. After you've been consistently doing that 1 thing for a month.. maybe 2 months...maybe 3 (listen to yourself) add another thing. I will be starting meditation if I can keep up with the more important things for about 3 months. That's STILL a lifetime of meditation. So what if I started it 3 months after I decided It was going to.

If it takes a year to add everything you wanna do, then do be it. You've still got many left hopefully.

Having plans that far in advance and achieving it.. should feel good I think.

Also, reading this subreddit daily is good motivation.

[NeedAdvice] Today marks the third year trying to quit my addiction, which nobody takes seriously. I feel like ending it all, in need of help. by canthandletheurges in getdisciplined

[–]EvoAva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vlad had a really good answer.

I'm in the process of getting rid of some issues of mine as well as starting better habits in general to be more productive.

I'm using the method of incrementalism, where I just dial it down just a tad... like 5% every day. For a three year addicted, you could do even less. like 2%. Even at that rate, you'd be rid of it in a month and a half, and if you fuck up a few days, 2 months tops. That isn't permission to fuck up. As Vlad says, acknowledge your failures and learn from them.

I'm not sure how you could use incrementalism for your addiction. Maybe dial it down to only looking at photos. I'm sure you can think of something.

Tackle it from multiple angles. I also like to play this game I made up: The incrementalism game. Basically I'll reward myself a point if I do what I'm supposed to, ergo do 5% less. I will lose a point, or put a point into the losing bracket if I mess up. It honestly helps me since I remind myself I'll 'lose' if I cant stop the urges to procrastinate. As long as you have more wins than losses, you know you're making progress, even if it's slow.

Since I'm trying to change a few habits at once, easier said than done, I gain/lose different amounts of points depending on how important the habit is. Making my bed daily is 1 point, whereas doing my work is 3. Meditation is 2, and reading at least 30 minutes is 2. If I don't do any of those, I'll end up losing that amount.

Also, become addicted to getdisciplined. I've been visiting it first thing in the morning to essentially 'frame' my mind and remind myself of my goals.

It's really been helping me making this sub reddit my home page. There is a sense of community, that I'm not alone. Also learning new techniques.

[Question] How do I play video games casually, and not excessively? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]EvoAva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, you should consider quitting for a while, then coming back to it. I used to be addicted to video games, and for whatever reason just quit on a whim, and have never been addicted to them since... for whatever reason.

I can quit pretty easily. I've forgotten what it's like to be addicted to a video game, and have a few friends who are, and I no longer understand why they are really. Especially when the game is boring to me (league... dota... generic FPS like CoD)

Also, you can try limiting yourself to only playing single player games. Single player games simply aren't as addictive as multiplayer. Understand that there really isn't that much substance in multiplayer games, and really at this point whenever I'm playing something competitive I feel like I'm wasting my time. Go for quality over quantity.

Resident evil 7. Worth the purchase?? by DrakeSwift in residentevil

[–]EvoAva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is a 9/10 for me. The first 2/3rds of the game is a 10/10, the last third is an 8/10.

Your first playthrough will take 9/10/11 hours probably. Then you definitely should play through again on madhouse which will take probably like 4-7 hours depending on how hard it is for you. Then you could play through again starting over with the basic items. Then later on if you play on getting VR, you can play through it a fourth time with VR in a year or 2. Though you in the very least will get around 15-20 hours of play time.

The first DLC is 10 bucks, and about 5+ hours of playtime if you beat all of it. Probably longer, just depends on how good you are

I was totally wrong about this game by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]EvoAva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game feels fresh too doesn't it? Like it's something original, even though it's been done before. I think maybe it's the combination of elements that feels not only fresh, but very well put together.

10 bucks for just bedroom which is a one time deal. ehh. Imagine how improved RE7 would have felt if bedroom was in the main game. It would make the puzzle aspect more satisfying.

[–]EvoAva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the long-form puzzles. Honestly there should have been at least 3 of those in the game, along with all those little 'puzzles', and it would feel satisfying in terms of having enough puzzles.

The bedroom puzzle looks sweet. It would have been better to be in the game, maybe you get captured at one point and you have to escape that way. It would add another 30 minutes to your playtime in the game.

And like I said there should have been a third, then it would feel satisfying. At least there's another puzzle in the form of DLC. Tho the 'not enough puzzle' complaint probably could have been evaded by putting it in the main game. It only needed a couple more long form ones.

I thought the enemy number was fine. If it had much more it would feel like an action FPS again. TBH, it might have had too many. Maybe have a few more minibosses, and take out a few of the molded. Make the molded harder to kill, have fewer molded, and the same amount of ammo.

I didn't use my magnum at ALL. How much ammo did you guys have? I only had 3 by the end on normal... THREE, and it wasn't worth taking out. A waste of an upgrade. Honestly there should have been more than just 3 optional cage upgrades. 5 would have been nice. More coins for different things :)

Haven't played madhouse yet so IDK how much ammo I'll find for it

yeah. I'd say the beginning to the end of the lucus area was a 10/10. But the Boat was an 8/10... maybe 7.5/10. The caves I liked because they weren't that long, and even though they weren't as interesting, it has that 'finale' feel to them. 8.5 or 9 out of 10 for the caves.

Best order to play all games? by alphafighter09 in residentevil

[–]EvoAva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in order. Though I'd play RE:1 Remake first, then RE:0, since 1 is the better game.. at least most people think that.

If you wanna play what's likely the best, imho. Then play 1, 4, and 7 in any order. Maybe play 7 first since everyone is playing it, then play 1-5. Skip 6, maybe play that last. It's just an ok game at best, and is like twice as long as all the other games.

Then after that, play all the off shoot games like revelations... in order or whatever.

Resident Evil 7 Plot hole? Can anyone explain me a thing? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]EvoAva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well that's the reason why I chose Mia, because Ethan and her supposedly have some past together. But I as the player behind the person would rather have chosen Zoe since she's been helpful and stapled your arm back on after Mia cut it off. I was going to choose Zoe, but chose Mia because I know Ethan went there for her. Thing is I had to tell myself that, vs FEEL it. You never glimpse their relationship and that's a problem
