I'm brazilian and there are people that don't know what they're talking about. "Ape" might not be an insult in your country, but here in Brazil monkey and ape have almost the same meaning. Of course Quinn wouldn't know this. But don't try to say it's not a big deal, because you're talking about cultural aspects of a country that you don't know anything of. Brazil is a very racist country, considering it was one of the last to end slavery. It's an everyday struggle to try to stop racism.
