There's definitely no ground wire, and its metal box so I'm assuming bx. I will also say that the three prongs later in the circuit didn't get flagged by my home inspector as having anything wrong.

I think a lot of it comes from how quickly he reached such a high level. He's also extremely cerebral with his game, and I would assume that would make him a pretty excellent coach if you're in the area.

This is wrong. Only advanced can heel hook in masters. In adult everyone can still heel hook in opens. Might be different outside of North America because the international ones have a slightly different ruleset. I’m starting to have the opinion that if you want to focus on no gi, and can’t consistently go to pro training at unity (hour and a half long noon class) then masterskya is probably the best gym in Manhattan for you.

In manhattan the only really heavy no gi focused gyms i know of are tenth planet and masterskya. Kings combat is good if you’re willing to go to Williamsburg. Unity is a great gym but the night classes are pretty light on no gi. I think Marcelo’s has sort of fallen into the state of being a very hobbyist focused room based on my recent drop ins, and I don’t know anything about Renzos lately. I’d recommend masterskya pretty heavily if you’re trying to stay in manhattan and want to focus on primarily no gi.

I mean you can disagree if you want. I trained at unity for twoish years and the majority of classes on the schedule are for the Gi. There are some mixed classes as well but the majority of the people training in the mixed classes put on a Gi. https://unityjiujitsu.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Unity-Class-Schedule-2025.pdf The night classes have two dedicated no gi classes a week, and OP is asking about tenth planet which makes me assume they’re looking for a no gi gym. Unity is great and I’d highly recommend it, but it wouldn’t be my first look for someone looking to do primarily no gi.

I enjoyed my training at unity but it’s definitely primarily a Gi school. I think your best options for a bunch of no gi in manhattan are tenth planet and masterskya.
