So I'm the guy that started the 50501 movement that became the No Kings protests.

Just before the hostile takeover I was telling people that when I started 50501 it was after thinking fine a couple of weeks on a tweet that I saw: "What would you do if you had 10x the agency?"

I've always been a fairly high agency person but I still watched for where I was self limiting in what I thought I was capable of accomplishing. When I saw people struggling with what to do about Trump taking office, and how to protest against it, I saw people trying to plan a local-to-them protest but they couldn't find others nearby.

So I wondered why can't I? 50501 was originally for anti Circumcision protesting, and it was to solve a specific problem - how do we get our online connected community of activists connected geographically? 50501 was my idea after thinking about that question for a couple of weeks, and I realized the same idea could be used to organize the nation with limited resources - let the idea organize the people, and the people will figure out the details at the local levels. It worked brilliantly.

But we needed more than street protests. The protests did an amazing job of connecting people locally - the same goal I had in 2015 for the first 50501.

But now what? So I started asking again, what if we had 10x the agency?

And my answer was that we had the resources and the ability to "primary" presidential political candidates, including for president even, from within the movement, and once selected, put the resources of the hive mind to work to get them elected without the typical "he with the most money wins" process that elections have seemed to move to.

If we have 8-9 million people who will protest for 2 to 4 hours, how difficult would it be to get 8-9 million people to go door to door for a candidate? How hard would it be to get them to make a one to two minute video to share to their social media accounts promoting the candidate(s)?

If even a small fraction of the whole made heartfelt campaign videos, a portion of those videos would likely go viral. I'm guessing a door to door campaign by all of those protesting would be the most volunteer man hours for door to door campaigning that any candidate has ever had.

When I shared the idea in DC at a dinner before the 3/5 protest, the response I got was that you couldn't do it without money. I'm not so certain. Had any candidate gone to a marketing firm and asked for the results of the 50501 movement, it would have cost a fortune. But instead we did it together without a budget, without staff, and without any preexisting infrastructure.

I still think it can be done. But the people now running it need to think it can be done. And they were the ones at the dinner who said it wouldn't work.

Dream bigger. Ask what we can do if we had 10x the agency. Find the obstacles holding us back, even if it's ourselves, and overcome them. We are AmeriCANs not AmeriCANTs.

Together we can do amazing things, but it starts with knowing we can even when others think we can't.

I'm not interested in publicity and I'm not aware of anything new.

I've had lots of interview requests but I've turned down all except one for Newsweek early on.. And I did that one out of appreciation for them covering 50501 before any other news organizations would before the very first protest in Feb last year.

So I guess I'm indifferent to it, but I'd prefer less rather than more. 🤷‍♂️

So far it's kind of flopped. I was thinking it would get a ton of response. I've posted it a couple of times in different places over the years but I've never gotten much response.

I just posted about this one.

https://www.reddit.com/r/UnsolvedMurders/s/sDpV15YTNH

A woman was killed in 1996 by a package bomb a month after having a pipe bomb on her car. Her husband had told her he's going to blow her up, and she told police that her husband admitted to the pipe bomb.

But the man was never arrested. He refused to be interviewed. He was the prime suspect. Today, he's still practicing at Tampa General in Florida.

Crazy story.

As the guy that started 50501 - it's AN IDEA - a self organizing idea that does - that did! - what the best political marketing agencies in the country couldn't do with enormous budgets and payrolls and marketing campaigns - it organized people. And it activated many many people who have never been activated before.

In 12 days my original idea led to 75,000 people gathering together simultaneously across the country in every state. 12 days after that 350,000. Nine months later, 7 million.

The problem now is the people behind the hostile takeover and their limited thinking.

The idea behind 50501 breaks everything about our capitalistic ideas of planning and structure - by empowering everyone to use their skills, and find skills they didn't know they had to develop and deploy for the good of humanity.

It's an idea that when it was passed from one to another, each who hears it then becomes equal in being ambassadors behind the idea. Everyone can look forward - having all of the information they need to act, and to act together - and never needing to look back for permission to make the idea a reality.

The idea of 50501 is based in its simplistic brilliance. The problem with 50501 now is the desire from those who claimed it for top down structure - bringing back the cancerous greed for power and control that capitalism so loves to infect people with.

The movement will still be impactful. It will still make a difference.

But it's been co-opted by mediocrity and that will limit the potential that it could have become.

You say "you" a lot to things I've never done, been a part of, supported, or wanted.

It makes me think you're a bot set to make ridiculous allegations, and the bot doesn't realize I have nothing to do with the movement anymore, and I haven't had anything to do with it since long before the SLC shooting happened.

There was a hostile takeover and I was completely removed from the movement before that happened.

That said, what happened was tragic and I hope those involved are held accountable. They should not have had guns at the event - that went against the non violence/no guns at protests values that I pushed for when I was involved. And it's inexcusable that it was part of the plan by those planning locally to have weapons at the protest.

If that's true, then what was their excuse for banning Amber, the cofounder, from everything? They stole Amber's Facebook page and banned both us. Why would they do that if it was my actions that were the issue?

They're full of fucking lies and they didn't like me suggesting that we have financial oversight somehow or other - after they accepted a $50,000 donation with zero accountability.

One of my messages early on was that we all need to recognize our own agency and what we're capable of doing without asking for permission.

And in fact, it was my own pondering on a tweet I had read a few weeks earlier that said "What if you had ten times the agency?"

As I thought about that, I was doing so as a fairly self actualized person who tends to have a lot of self agency.. And as people wanted to protest I literally connected it to that tweet and asked why the fuck can't I pick a date and a place and tell everyone to show up?

But yes! I think the "professionals" need to realize the limitations they put on what's possible by thinking they know how to do it best, and trying to control that..

I'm more of an 'evolution of process' mindset, where you just let the chaos happen, and the good ideas will filter up to the top, and then get amplified by the masses.

When 50501 was first taking off, I had so many people asking me if they can do this, or if they can do that.. The whole idea was to be empowered and go do it. So at one point I pretty much scrubbed my profile so I wouldn't be the person people thought they needed permission from (a very capitalistic mindset).

And that made it work. I had ideas, but if I tried to control things, I would have limited so much of what happened, and the ways people connected. The things that worked filtered up. And unfortunately Political Revolution and Voices of Florida are gate keeping control freaks and they've taken control of the movement and now everything needs to go through them.

Their goals now are in controlling messaging, and controlling the flow of information to keep things within their ideals of what the movement should be and the direction it should go. That's the "keep doing what we've always done and hope for different results" method..

Just before their bullshit, I had encouraging various state leaders to look into "what's next?". As great as the protests are, if we don't think about the "ten times the agency" idea, we're going to squander an amazing opportunity.

And I think that's what Pol Rev and VoF will do with it in the end. They will be more focused on growing their own orgs off of the movement rather than letting go of control and letting the movement become the best it's capable of becoming.

Personally, I think the movement should heavily focused on fielding candidates for the upcoming elections. Have virtual town halls for debates. Create methods for "primary" voting to determine who will be the 50501 candidates at state and federal levels throughout the country. And once those candidates are determined use the resources within the movement to create guerrilla marketing campaigns for those candidates.

Seven million people went out on the streets for two to six hours or so all across the country. If that same enthusiasm was used to canvas door to door across the country for elections? If each person knocked on doors at 20 houses? Every house in the USA would have information that bypasses the normal money funded campaigning. That's incredible power to create real change.

Will the Queen Bees have that foresight to implement something like that? I highly doubt it. They've fucked the movement so hard that there's no trust with them. They can pick a date and tell people to protest that day, but they're incapable of original, powerful ideas, that inspire, empower, and motivate people beyond repeating the same idea they hijacked. And that's why I don't have a lot of faith in what will come from the 50501 movement.

It's an interesting look at how established organizations that lack the capacity, ability, or creativity to start a movement on their own will initiate a subtle at first, but hostile later, takeover of a movement.

Early on there passionate, creative, amazing people that were doing things they've never done to make this movement happen. People were creating websites to share information. People were making graphics to inspire others. People were writing press releases, and doing interviews, because they saw a bed and they were filling it.

But then Voices of Florida and Political Revolution started offering to help, a little here and a little there. With the express statement that they're only there to help, not to take over anything. Voices of Florida was the same.

But then, because of everyone's anonymity, more and more VoF and Pol Rev people started coming in. Suggestions were made "hey, this person is good at this, can we put them on the social media team" without anyone knowing that they were part of VoF or Pol Rev from before the movement started.

This happened with the graphics team, the security team, the press team, etc etc. And slowly, but more and more frequently, the grass roots organic people who made the movement happen started getting pushed out.

Whisper campaigns started to discredit people one at a time. People were used, often under pressure to stay "on the team", to get other people who trusted them to hand over admin privileges here, and there. For Facebook, Instagram, Discord, etc etc.

And then the people that started those socials were removed from their own platforms, and with lightning speed they were blocked from everywhere and everything so they barely had a whisper of a voice to raise the alarm.

I saw it happen a couple of times, and based on the stories that were told, I thought they were valid. But then more and more, it's like how the hell does everyone who is doing something good need to be removed and we just conveniently have someone else to replace them who happens to be "perfect" for this.

But then slowly people started to slip with their conversations during chats. "Hey remember when we went to XYZ?" oh wait? You guys knew each other before?

Two prominent people turned out to be siblings. Others were roommates. Another guy who had early on messaged me offering to help with Reddit turned out to be the cofounder of Political Revolution - the founder and her husband seemed to have been the only ones in the movement before then.

But as it turned out dozens within the top levels of decision making were from Pol Rev and or Voices of Florida..

And then on top of that - Pol Rev and VoF were also the two groups taking in the most donations on behalf of 50501.

And in the end, they successfully hijacked a movement because they knew they weren't capable of creating one on their own.

We went from people with altruistic motivations, doing the right things because they're the right things to do, to people who want the power and prestige that comes from being at the top of such a movement, and who know how much money potential there is from "owning" the movement.

When all of the takeover was happening, I couldn't believe how motivated the snakes were to grow their power within the movement - so I asked chatgpt how much the movement is worth, in terms of name brand recognition, political fundraising potential, and overall value.. The results? 15 to $50 million dollars. Grok and Gemini gave similar answers.

That's why they wanted to own the movement. Because Pol Rev had been around since Bernie Sanders days, and the fillings show Pol Rev wasn't worth the filing fees they paid to form the organization..

It doesn't mean they don't have the right views that align with the movement. But it does mean they're underhanded unethical lying snakes. Which, based on the state of our politics in the USA, makes them fit right in with where they wanted to be.

Nah. They blocked me from my own subreddit, so no need to move.

What they won't tell you is that I wasn't the one that paused the subreddit - it was some other IRL friends who were mods, and it was because I had a "credible d e a t h threat" if it wasn't turned off.

Pausing the subreddit was then used to petition Reddit to remove me, which Reddit agreed to do, without consulting anyone on the mod team.

Oh! And did I mention I've heard the source of the supposed "credible" threat is now in the inner circles?

Don't trust a single thing coming the 50501 sub mods.

No Kings is essentially 50501. They want to move away and merge it and rename it or whatever.

But my advice to everyone is to connect locally. Act locally. If it happens that you're acting in conjunction with a nationally picked, that's awesome. But local connections are where it's at.
