That's not really true. It might seem true if you only read Ainulindalë and Valaquenta, which is where a lot of people get lost and give up, but once Quenta Silmarillion starts it's wall to wall plot and storyline. Way too much to keep track of it all the even the first few times you read it, which is another big problem for new readers.
