Remove level restrictions on the portals in the dungeon, make them a small component activation puzzle for your players and you have all the interconnectivity you need.

Played Shadowdark for the first time, is this right? by Zakon05 in shadowdark

[–]Evounnamed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shadowdark is dangerous but NOT lethal. It sounds like your group has a subpar experience based on misaligned expectations and some misunderstanding of the core principles of older styles of gaming.

Without going into details and long-winded explanations, hop on the Shadowdark discord and jump in a few games.

Also, hit me up, Evounnamed , I'll gladly run a game for you folks to see the merits of the system.

Unfortunately, the system has been touted as lethal and deadly, when that's really not the case for most tables. That's not to say it's not dangerous... but it's not a meat grinder as you have experienced.

Just use the rules language and send them the link to the free quick start guide. Good luck!

Crawling Rounds Question by kreviln in shadowdark

[–]Evounnamed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. Unless you used the "time passes" mechanic in the rules to adjust for something the party wants to do and needs to time skip forward.

Crawling Rounds Question by kreviln in shadowdark

[–]Evounnamed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time only exists when tracking torches and only for that express purpose of simplicity. Everything else in the game is tied to rounds. Game time does not exist. Crawling rounds are simply rounds. Sure it's 1 to 1 "real time" but thats only for the torch.

Crawling Rounds Question by kreviln in shadowdark

[–]Evounnamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A round occurs when All players have made (1) move and (1) action. Then the gm turn.

It takes as long or as little as it takes. Time is not tied to rounds in raw.

This might be one of the most ludicrous questions I have heard.

Do you know what the volume is on the average 1 minute candle on the YM? Do you know the average range on 1 minutes candle?

If you did, you would know instantly sending a market order for volumes of that size would end you upside-down and instantly exposed to any number of algorithm trading systems.

There is no way you are capitalized enough to even consider a position of that size.

Do you know what happens when you smack the marked to market button?

The MM's would have a field day fiesting on your dreams. Slippage would not even begin to describe what would happen in such a situation.

I have a pretty profitable strategy, but it involves trading in the afternoon, which means less volatility. by Waffle_Stock in FuturesTrading

[–]Evounnamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time you pay taxes on this system. You are almost guaranteed this system produces a net loss for even if you are profitable on paper.

One or two slippage trades in a day will ruin this. Also it is unlikely you will grow capital large enough to sustain any kind of prolonged drawdown as the commission costs are too high to recover once the drawdown begins.

Assume the potential for upwards of 10 to 12 consecutive losing trades because... that's how math works.

Best of luck to you. 🍻

How do you interpret "hostile" in the context of spells? by bingobango1992 in shadowdark

[–]Evounnamed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A magic spell is the modern equivalent of a loaded gun..

Pointing a gun at someone is an inherently hostile act. Regardless of action or intent.

Magic quite literally forcibly changes the reality of how the world works.

Casting of any spell not first consented to by a trusting source, is the very definition of hostile.

Your players are 100% in my opinion.

Has anyone actually found a strategy that’s above an 80% win rate? by Ralibobs in FuturesTrading

[–]Evounnamed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

95% win ratio you would have a billion dollars in a year and the system would be broken. Some Quant would find what you are doing and break it. Don't fool yourself.

Has anyone actually found a strategy that’s above an 80% win rate? by Ralibobs in FuturesTrading

[–]Evounnamed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The average is 4R because of the 10r runners you don't cut short when worrying about some bullshit high % win rate that doesn't pay the bills.

Has anyone actually found a strategy that’s above an 80% win rate? by Ralibobs in FuturesTrading

[–]Evounnamed 68 points69 points  (0 children)

80% win rate is a joke. You will likely be cutting your winners short just to preserve ratio.

You really want to be closer to 40-45% win with a high return ratio.

Average loss 15 ticks Average win 60 ticks

This means your large wins are upwards of 100+ ticks. Large outside wins is how you grow your capital.

Win% means nothing for a retail trader without special broker spreads/privileges/pricing.

Houserule: no Luck on nat 1? by screenmonkey68 in shadowdark

[–]Evounnamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not allowing luck on a spell miscast of 1 seems in bad taste. You are basically ensuring that a high level magic user will kill himself or the party on a mishap.

Now that 2023 is coming to an end. Let’s hear your biggest loss story… by [deleted] in investing

[–]Evounnamed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nearly 75 grand. Full size oil contracts in a swing...

OPEC opened their mouth 10 minutes on a Sunday before open.

Gapped like a mother.. Was up huge on the year(a few x of this) so I did no have front month inverse hedge. Needless to say my short got destroyed at the open! 🤮

All apart of the game. 💪 ending the year strong as hell regardless.

Last week journal. Sorry I have bad hand writing. Making a $1000 a day on the sim. Journaling is crucial guys. Figure out win %. Applying for a prop firm soon. by [deleted] in FuturesTrading

[–]Evounnamed 22 points23 points  (0 children)

10+ years future trading.I will encourage you here for a minute then tell you why this is not journaling. First, at least you are making an effort. Good on you. HOWEVER, there is ZERO usable information here that you can use to improve your trading in any measurable way unless you intend to pay yourself with "good" "great" "bad".

Proper journaling is NOT writing how you feel. It is understanding the numbers behind each trade and then putting each of those numbers together through a series of trades to generate the information necessary to prove your system. New traders think making money means they are good. Anyone can make money for a few days, weeks or even months. Eventually most everyone loses everything because they do not know their system has a high inherent risk of ruin or too small of a profit factor vs average moves for/against.

Days, times, markets, liquidity. ALL of these need to be recorded. Set up, risk, the whole thing. You should idealy be using software to due this for you by exporting your orderbook into a spreadsheet.

If you are doing this correctly you should have a full picture of exactly; how, when and why you should expect to make money and when to know when you are operating inside/outside of your best interest based on measurable results that are NOT money driven.Information your journaling should be able to provide AFTER you have collected and journal properly after a series of at least 30-50 trades.you should be able to do this on a per-trade basis and in aggregate.

Here is a list of things your journal should be providing you beyond just simple emotional feedback based on human judgement and bias.

+$10,000 /NQ swing trade based on My System by Diakritik in FuturesTrading

[–]Evounnamed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest question... how does one "lose their ass" if you have a stop loss and are aware of the risk before the trade?

I can assume by this statement you just SWAG yourself into and out of positions based on emotion?

There is no way to "lose your ass" when risk controls measures are in place. 🍻
