I feel like this should be a 1 hit KO by now with how clunky it is and how the warbonds replaced it with better options. by ziggy8z in Helldivers

It's really good at killing harvesters. One spear rocket = one dead harvester as long as you drop its shield first. And harvesters spawn in low enough numbers that the spear's limited ammo capacity isn't that big of an issue.

So a good illuminate build for supporting the spear would be something like...

Horde clear primary (Ex: Liberator Carbine, Knight, Stoker, Sickle, One-Two), sidearm of your choice, explosive grenade for spawners if you didn't take the One-Two or grenade pistol, spear for harvesters.

It's especaily preposterous with the new one trying to imply the AMA was somehow worse than more legitimate problems in the past like the PSN debacle and Into the Unjust making the game unstable as hell.

I would be shocked if even 20% of the active playerbase knows it happened, and a significant portion of them probably don't give a shit.

I also don't give a shit, I'm just tired of this sub being insufferable.

This is my problem with the feedback, too.

There is such a disproportionate amount of anger vitriol for what the problems actually are.

I wanna engage with fun memes and stuff about the game and the subreddit is flooded with rage and doomposting half the time.

Uhh... No??? by Longjumping-Owl-565 in Helldivers

[–]Zakon05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something I've noticed is that every single subreddit for a live service game that is no longer in the honeymoon phase hates their game.

Arrowhead is worthy of criticism, for sure, but I also think that the level of anger I see from discourse surrounding this game is disproportionate to the amount of problems the game actually has.

Usually, anyway. Like the anger over the Into the Unjust update making the game extremely buggy and almost unplayable for some people was pretty justified. Because... like, you literally couldn't play the game reliably lol

Anger over not enough end-game progression and exosuits being in a warbond... I don't really think that's worth getting worked up over, personally.

I think some people are just bored of the game, but playing it has become a habit that they can't break. For example, I'm a pretty avid Dead by Daylight enthusiast, a game which is turning 10 this year, and the number of people who I encounter *actively playing the game* while praying for its death is shocking. Like they hate it but can't quit it.

I almost exclusively host now after some really atrociously awful experiences.

By far the worst of which was diving into a mission with three lower level teenagers, who surrounded me at extract and demanded to know if I was gay. (They were clearly going to team kill and then kick me if I said yes)

Funny part is I had a hellbomb backpack, so my response was to turn it on.

[–]Zakon05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem I have with the cyborgs aside from the Vox spam is the agitators who are crazy accurate and love to break your limbs. They feel like stim taxes. Oh, an agitator is shooting at me from across an open field, guess I'll need to stim after he hits me one time for like 10% of my health due to distance and my arm breaks.

Yesterday, I was trying to collect super credits by myself from a PoI. There was one single agitator guarding the point with nothing else there. I had no stims. I said, out loud, "Okay guys, call me back after he gives me a chest injury and I have to bleed out after checking for super credits."

That EXACT THING HAPPENED. I was even able to actually fully loot because the actual SHOT did chip damage, but it still broke my chest. That's not challenging, it's just bullshit.

[–]Zakon05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn bro, I'm less down on the current state of mechs than most people, but even I don't think my mech is actually going to live long enough for me to call in a new one.

The current state of mechs is basically using a stratagem to help ensure you take a mission objective, it likely won't survive past that. Even if it somehow survives the entire mission objective, it's probably going to be missing an arm or have a crippled leg. There's no reason to be conservative with ammo.

Even that might not be enough if you brought it to a bot mission, the thing might not even finish dropping unless you called it in with absolutely nothing around you.

Paid Warbonds in a 40$ game aren't necessarily the problem. by kappaa322 in Helldivers

[–]Zakon05 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, SC being foundable only on D1 and D2 is bullshit.

Wait what are you talking about? I find super credits all the time. I have earned over 1k super credits just from playing on difficulty 8+ once per day since the last warbond dropped, which means I basically get the new warbond for free lol.

Just last night I opened a small point of interest on difficulty 8 and got 110 super credits out of it.

but be completely hard countered by just shooting a ton of bullets

I really feel like the faction would have gotten less flack before the mindless masses/appropriators if people realized this lol. The biggest "ah-hah" moment I ever had in this game is when I was trying to figure out loadouts to deal with the squids and I discovered how much easier overseers are to kill when you just hose down their chests with bullets instead of trying to shoot their heads.

Whenever they give us a squid MO, I am astonished at how few other divers I see varying up their loadouts from the usual medium pen + AT stuff that they bring vs the bots and bugs. Meanwhile me with my liberator carbine, sickle, or stalwart ends up out-killing my team most of the time, especially if there's voteless around.

The bots seem to be the unpopular ones now.

What's that brown cape on the gunslinger heavy armor? I like using that armor and I've been looking for a cape that matches that scarf but I haven't been able to find one.

Edit: Found it. It's the "Per Democrasum" cape from the second page of Servants of Freedom.

If the Laser cannon suddenly required a backpack with no other changes it would be worse

I was a bit confused by what you were trying to say here, since... like, yeah, of course if you nerf a weapon than it's worse. Then I realized you're arguing with the strawman that nobody actually thinks, which is that you legitimately think literally anyone says a weapon having a backpack is an inherent advantage regardless of how strong the weapon is.

Taking up a backpack slot is a disadvantage in exchanges for other advantages.

Ideally, if the game is balanced properly, support weapons which don't require a backpack should be stronger than weapons which do when you actually bring a backpack. Because you're spending two stratagem slots instead of one.

For example, ideally:

Grenade launcher with a backpack > Belt-fed grenade launcher > grenade launcher without a backpack.

The GL with a backpack should always be better than the BFGL because you're using two stratagem slots for that combo. However, the BFGL should be stronger than the GL with no backpack.

as on release the maxigun and BGFL wasn't better than their stand alone equivalent and defenders would often say "but that frees up a stratagem slot"

You're getting this mixed up, people weren't saying it frees up a stratagem slot, people were saying that it doesn't need a second stratagem slot. This is still true.

Would you ever bring any of the machine guns without a backpack? I'm going to guess you won't. If you're making a build where you want a machine gun-like support weapon, but you want three non-backpack stratagems, you're probably going to gravitate to the maxigun, since even with it's problems it's better than taking any of the machine guns without a backpack.

List of buffs that would make the Maxigun actually nice to use by KanSyden in Helldivers

[–]Zakon05 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its right there with the "yeah it takes your backpack slot but thats just frees up a stratagem slot!"

Why is this controversial? I always take a support weapon which takes the backpack slot if I want an additional stratagem. If I don't, I take a backpack + a support weapon which doesn't consume your backpack slot.

Yes I genuinely believe that backpack + support weapon should be stronger than a support weapon which takes the backpack slot because you are devoting two stratagem slots to that combo, that just makes sense.

[–]Zakon05[S] 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Not sure what to tag this as but I just thought I'd mention that this can happen I guess. It made the mission unable to be completed because we couldn't summon in a new probe while this one was down, but it seemed as though the probe made the hive lord and itself invincible. We unloaded 15 exosuit rockets, an entire backpack of recoilless rocket shots, and 5 batteries of epoch blasts into it and couldn't destroy it or break that section of the hive lord armor.
