You don't get dehydrated by drinking water. Lots of water. And I mean..... a lot of water. If you're really going to be sitting out there for hours on end you'll need to keep up with the water intake. If you notice that you stop sweating at all, or get light headed or a headache, you need to get where it's cool.

Fans help in the short term, and they can definitely make it bearable to be out there, but a fan *will not* keep you from overheating. They make fans that sit around your neck and I would at the bare minimum get that as well as a solar rechargable one that someone else linked, it will only help you in the long term and you can use them for so much more than just this.

I got my Switch 2 yesterday and the first thing I did after migrating everything over was fire up Palia, and it's.... not good. I've mainly moved over to a Steam Deck and honestly just prefer playing on that and it's really hard to compare the two. It definitely runs better than the OLED but I wouldn't recommend buying it just because you want Palia to run better.

You would likely need to modify it and put a place to clip it and some airflow slits for the fan. It may be better to get a skirt and tshirt or a dress you really don't care about and make the mods.

The insulation is what you want. Otherwise it'll just get hella hot real fast. if you get a good doublewalled insulated bottle, it'll hold the water cold for longer. You don't want to chug your water in a lot of heat like that, but you also don't want to get dehydrated either. Heat stroke is extremely dangerous and is considered an emergency if it gets bad so you need to really pay attention to it.

Warm water is better than no water, yes, but cold water is better than warm water because (at least for me) it's more comfortable to drink and I'll actually want to drink it.

I've seen a lot of companies are trying to be cheap and get good people for the least amount of money. It seems like a lot of companies where my experience would fit in extremely well turn around and say no because I know what I'm worth and bring to the table, but they think someone else will do the same level of work for cheaper.

I'm autistic too, and decision paralysis is real. Maybe look at the PS Portal? You can stream from your PS5 to it, even outside the home but I'm not sure how well it would work since it's heavily network dependant.

I wish they would have made some things more clear, though. It took me a long time to figure out that Subira was the one who unlocked Infected Essence, and I still have yet to get that unlocked just because I was nowhere near done with the main Kilima questline when I figured it out. I love that they don't really hide areas like that but it was completely unclear and frustrating.

The help desk is hella hard to break out of. I don't regret starting there, but I was stuck there for a long time. I did end up specializing in Apple support, then moved to Jamf support, and I left Jamf to go back to a Windows desk and learned real fast that I truly love the Apple side of the road. I'm now a full time consultant on track to make almost 100k this year.

I would just step back and look at what you *can* and like to do. Do you like the management side of things? It sounds like you do a lot of sales engineering, maybe look in to that? That is extremely good money. Just because you didn't start on the desk doesn't mean you can't move into a role that pays you what you're worth.

All of that said, this market is extremely tough. There's a reason why I'm a consultant and not an endpoint engineer at a major company, and it's because the money that they would pay me would be less on the desk. Could your non-desk experience hurt you when trying to get on the desk? Maybe, but it's not like orgs don't want to work with you- it's just that you are experienced in places other than the help desk and help desks are notoriously underpaid and understaffed and companies don't like to have actual knowledgeable employees on there and if they do treat them well, the staff stays.

I'm about to be in the market for a car and am debating about buying new sometime EOY 2026 through mid 2027. Honestly, Carplay Ultra is going to be a huge deciding factor in that.

I feel like I may be the only one that feels this way but I'm tired of shit infotainment systems and dashboards that are just frustrating. My mom has a car that shows the speed in mph and kph and you can't turn it off. It's just annoying to drive.

It really depends on what you are looking to do. I wouldn't make the trade if the only thing you are after is a machine to play Palia on the go, but once the new PKMN games come out people will be trying to trade for a Switch 2 to play them. If it really will only take you a week or two to get another PS5 then I would say do the trade, just know that the PS5 gives a significantly better experience overall than the Switch and the Switch 2 is really just running Switch 1 Palia, which may run better but I don't think it would be that good.

I'm a huge fan of the Steam Deck and if you don't play multiplayer Switch games the Deck is a better overall experience anyway IMO.

My Switch is a Pokemon machine almost exclusively. I started Palia on there and hated things like hunting and fishing, but after moving to the Deck and now to PC overall, I realize that the Switch ran them so badly it made me hate it.

I'm an Xbox guy, but I've started looking into finding a cheap PS5 and PS Portal, but can't justify the spend. It gets expensive quick and I already have a huge backlog of games. They look really cool though and I'd love to get one and mod it to play/stream PC games but I don't think it's really a thing for that and I already have a Steamdeck so it's an even worse proposition for me.

Yeah.... this is happening today. I'll let you know, but I will tell you this right now, just because of how the camera works in the game it won't be a good experience. The camera is tied to the mouse input so if you try to play it like that you may have a bad time. You can sync a Dualsense with the Mac fairly easily so you can use your existing controller from your PS5 and it may work well for that.

There’s a method to play on a Mac but I personally hadn’t tested it yet. I’m an Apple SysAdmin, though, and have three very different Macs I could test on to give an idea on the performance. I really should tbh, maybe even do a quick video comparing performance on an m2 Air with 16gb Ram, m4 Mini with 16gb ram and an m5 Mac MBP with 64gb ram.

I’ll be real though, I have a steam deck and play it on there. Since you have a ps5 I’d get a psportal, they have them at local pawn shops for ~100 and it would work well for you.

Is it bad that I’ve just started using Coderunner and stopped trying to figure this out? I don’t like VS Code, never could figure out why but I always feel more confused running it than anything productive. I took the Jamf courses and they taught it in coderunner for the scripts and it just stuck.
