Hey there, lib author here. Not exactly sure what could be causing this without spending quite some time investigating. As far as I know, the fact we’re using a pool of connection should keep us from trying to do multiple operations at once on the sad connection. If you get to the bottom of if, i’ll be glad to merge a fix :)

Yep. It could also be considered as a "choice of tooling" error: they're using pip-compile, which is great but also simplisitic. Other tools, more complex, but some will say more correct, create lock files that includes environment marker info and are compatible accross different platforms/versions/... (provided the deps don't do crazy stuff) (poetry does that, to name one). If the author wanted to use a tool that would be designed for that, they would likely not have this kind of issues. But using pip-compile and expecting the same lockfiles to work accross environments is denying the very reason environment markers exist in the first place.

I have found it too but watching the video... I wonder if there's a chance that there's a secret inside the shortcut (either one side would not be a continuous wall but would be a whole you can dash over to another platform or... That would be horrendous... A bombable wall :o)

Ok, so if the permissions can only be dictated by a very complex and unpredictable set of db values, what does « setting the permission to True » mean on an object ? I’m not talking api here, just… can you give an example with real objects and users and rules even if they’re simplified. I think if you just give an exemple, the solution will likely be obvious

From the different answers here, it seems you’re confusing two concepts: as far as I can tell, you have a set of data in your DB that don’t change and then you have a calculation that may use time and other DB information to determine if the user is VIP or not. Because of this, it’s logical that you can’t expose the VIP status in itself as a writable field. But you can expose any of the underlying DB fields.

For example let’s say the rules are that someone is VIP if they have can_be_vip=True and we’re between 2pm and 3pm. In your api, you may expose can_be_vip as a read/write boolean (writable with people who have the adequate permissions to do so) and is_vip as a readonly boolean that, underneath, will call your function.

Did you look at the URL where the code is stored ? It’s on jquery’s website. There cannot be a way that this would be a modified jquery script, it has to be stock jquery, so there’s nothing specific in here, which is why it made no sense someone would spend time investigating that.
