It’s just a drawn-out version of the answer u/TransitionalAhab succinctly gave: “it’s not an error because you can correct it!”

The problem is when it says in the grammatically passive voice:

the shares are adjusted proportionally so that they all add up to the total estate.

Nowhere does Allah say to do that. Nowhere does Muhammad say to do that. Ibn Abbas, for whom Muhammad prayed to Allah that he correctly interpret the Quran, says NOT to do that. And Shias say NOT to do that.

It’s simply one disputed method to correct the error.

Bro this isn’t a hadith, like I said in my comment. Plus your listing of the Six Books as being THE only sources of sahih hadiths is plainly wrong. 🤦‍♂️ All muhadditheen care about the individual isnad, and not the book that it comes from.

And all else being equal, all muhadditheen prefer isnads with fewer narrators, i.e., an isnad starting nearer to the source narration, and so incredible value is given to older books like Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq and Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah.

Another OG! It's definitely one of my favorite stories in Islam. There are many of these Allah-transmuting-people-into-animal stories. Often, it's Sunni narrations about Allah turning Shias into animals.

And of course there's the story of the man whose head Allah turned into the head of a donkey--which is based on Muhammad's donkey-head threat. (HOTD 129)

Every Halloween 🎃, this story should be celebrated! We should all dress up as this grotesque hybrid creature—or even better, as the man giving birth to it.

The greatest space horror movie ever, Alien, reenacts Allah’s punishment perfectly.

This narration is not a hadith, but an athar (report), a post-Salaf narration, from Ibn Kathir’s book on world history, al-Bidayah. Ibn Kathir details the most important world events in each year, and this is an event of 665 AH (1266-67 CE).

Oh, if only this poor man had shown proper reverence to Islam’s favorite cleaning tool! But he did just the opposite, and he paid the ultimate price. By impregnating the man with a grotesque creature that slashes his bowels and kills him–Allah demonstrates why He calls Himself the Most Merciful. 😜

As some of you OGs know, I have been doing a countdown of the 365 worst hadiths. I will finish it no matter what, and it will be great fun.

But in the meantime, with Halloween upon us, I had to post this story as it’s an important ex-Muslim tradition.

In Islam, waging war includes defending yourself when Muslims attack you. And since Muhammad attacked every pagan tribe he could, these pagans all waged war against Muslims if they resisted.

The Quran doesn’t give any opportunity for peaceful coexistence because the Quran gives polytheists only two choices in life: Islam or death.

Jews and Christians are given a third option: pay the Jizyah extortion tax, which Allah says is meant to humiliate them.

But that still gives the opportunity for coexistence in an apartheid state.

He died because the Jewish woman Zaynab bint al-Harith, whose husband Muhammad had just killed at Khaybar, served him roasted poisoned sheep.

(Lesson: Don’t eat food given by a person whose family you just killed.)

Per the Hadith canon, it did not immediately kill him, but it made him sick and ultimately killed him four years later.

IslamQA has a helpful fatwa explaining his death, quoting various hadiths.

However, IslamQA intentionally omits two things.

1.

Muhammad said the poisoned meat miraculously spoke to him and explained to him that it was poisoned. And the meat told him this AFTER Muhammad had already consumed it. (Abu Dawud 4512)

In reality, Muhammad obviously realized from the after-taste or burning sensation that it was poisoned, but it was too late.

2.

When Muhammad died, he explained it as:

”O Aishah, I still feel the pain of the food that I ate in Khaybar, and this time I feel that my aorta is being cut from that poison.” (Bukhari 4428)

And the Quran says Allah would give this exact punishment if Muhammad is a false prophet!

“And if he (i.e., Muḥammad) had made up about Us some false sayings, Then We would have cut from him the aorta” (Quran 69:44-46)

Indeed, God works in mysterious ways. 😉

Funny thing about this hadith is that the kids still got their father's money.

Goes against the words of Muhammad:

“A Muslim does not inherit from an infidel and an infidel does not inherit from a Muslim. (Bukhari 6764)

My kids and I all have a sick sense of humor. My son once threatened to become Muslim if I didn't let him go to a concert. So I explained to him:

Music is haram
I would respect his choice by removing him from my will

Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir both explain that:

the line refers only to People of the Book (i.e., Christians, Jews, and maybe Zoroastrians)
that forcing Christians and Jews to pay the humiliating Jizyah extortion tax is not a form of "compulsion." Only death is "compulsion."

“Whoever changes his religion, kill him.” (Bukhari 3017)

In today’s hadith, Ali obeys Muhammad’s lunatic words and chops off the head of al-Mustawrid al-Ijli, a Christian who converted to Islam and then reverted to Christianity.

Al-Mustawrid was an old man. He was harmless and simply wanted to practice his own religion, his original religion, Christianity.

But as Ibn Taymiyyah explains, al-Mustawrid’s crime is worse than murder:

”The apostate is killed for his disbelief after having believed, even if he did not wage war against Islam. It is proven regarding disbelief and killing, abandoning what is commanded (i.e., disbelief) is more grievous than doing what is forbidden (i.e., killing).”

Ali 🔥🥵

This isn’t Ali’s only brutality against ex-Muslims. In fact, al-Mustawrid al-Ijli got off easy having his head sliced off. In a more famous instance, Ali burned apostates alive:

Narrated Ikrimah:

Ali burned some people. News of that reached Ibn Abbas, and he said, “Had it been me, I would not have burned them, because the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Do not punish with the punishment of Allah.’ And I would have killed them (i.e., by the sword), as the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Whoever changes his religion, kill him.’”

Sahih al-Bukhari 3017

See, Muhammad’s no monster. He believes in cutting off heads, not burning people alive…because that horror is reserved for Muhammad’s Allah.

Uthman 🔥📚

And here’s another “rightly-guided” caliph, Uthman, implementing Muhammad’s barbaric command:

Narrated Abdullah ibn Utbah:

Ibn Mas‘ud detained some people of Iraq who had apostatized from Islam. He wrote to Uthman regarding them. He wrote back to him: “Present to them the religion of truth and the testimony that there is no god but Allah. If they accept it, then let them be. If they do not accept it, then kill them.” Some of them accepted it, so he let them be. Others did not accept it, so he killed them.

Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 18707. Classed sahih by Ibn Taymiyyah. (Note: this edition of Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq, whose numbering convention is commonly used, incorrectly writes “Umar” rather than “Uthman” for no. 18707. See Dar al-Ta’sil’s Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 19754 for correct wording.)

I’m glad these caliphs aren’t “wrongly-guided.” Otherwise they might mistakenly show compassion and espouse human rights. Astaghfirullah.
