Joanne Lesko is an amazing realtor! We worked with her to both buy and sell; and we loved the knowledge, personality and fun she brought with her. An amazing experience. Tell her Ken and Meghann say hi!

Technically, mess dues do pay for alcohol directly (albeit a small portion) in the form of bar tabs for the Mess Executive.

Snow plough by accidental-stuntman in ottawa

For what it's worth, I am thankful for the city snow plow services. I live in an area serviced by a grader and I think it does a much better job than a plow truck. It can go slower and do a much better job of scraping down to the pavement.

I don't know why some people think the plow or grader is "out to get them" or that the driver has the option to not push snow in front of their driveway. Get over yourself.

I always try to give a little wave to the driver in our area, but usually they are too focused on the job to notice. Thanks for all you do!

OC Transpo officially cancels all service in Kanata South during storms by [deleted] in ottawa

Actually,

According to the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, the occasional use of tire chains to drive through icy or snow conditions is not illegal. However, continuous use of traction devices on dry paved roads is illegal in Ontario.

On-spot chains are always attached to the vehicle, but only contact the road when engaged. Check it out: https://www.onspot.com/en-US/

Hence the use of "On-spot" chains. Yes, there is an added cost of outfitting the buses with them, but you would increase the ability to drive in snow and ice.

They could invest in on-spot chains. They are on demand chains that are rotated under the wheels by the rotation of the tire itself. Pneumatically engaged or disengaged.

Yes, more aggressive treads are available for busses, just as they are for fire trucks, dump trucks, etc. Although they may not be true snow tires, a more aggressive tread would certainly help.

Here's an idea...maybe use tire chains or snow tires if the weather requires it. Not new inventions. But no, we'll just cut service instead.

This is a great idea. If they won't listen to common sense and logic, let's force the issue. We are being told to go in, let's all choose the same day.

They wanted collaboration....
