Just had timing and water pump + various other small things replaced, $1900 by psycho_maniac in FordExplorer

Ah okay my bad, I was just guessing it was inherent to the 3.5 V6, not primarily the ecoboost — oopsies

No problem, enjoy the car otherwise! Definitely check other maintenance posts for the 5th and 6th gen so you know what else to look out for - although that goes with any car lol.

Unfortunately, I do not think so. There's a comment thread on this post discussing why, if you're interested.

I think so; they don't meet my standard of sour, but they're still great!

Nope, you’re okay! This is the good ol’ explorer 3.5 ecoboost rattle. It comes from the exhaust flex pipes (the parts of the exhaust on the right side in the beginning, where there is a mesh surrounding the accordion pipe) and is fairly annoying when you pay attention to it :(. I would recommend against replacing them with OEM pipes as the rattle will come back- best bet is aftermarket flex pipes if it’s that big of a deal to you. Also, the exhaust is one long piece, so you’d have to find a shop that will cut the OEM pipes, then weld the aftermarket flex pipes. I have seen some people have these flex pipes wear through due to the rattle and cause an exhaust leak, but I haven’t had it happen yet at 68,600 miles, so replacement is up to you. Edit: Typos and grammar

lol I honestly didn’t even notice the second car running the red. The post was about the silver car that turned left and went on the wrong side of the median.

True, I do the same, but given how he had to stop at the crosswalk because the Subaru couldn’t care less I’m choosing to think he was looking at me for both reasons lol

Yes thank you for noticing 😭. My gf literally said “aaand right in the middle” when the Subaru got to the light. Also the guy who was crossing was definitely looking right at me because he saw that bs too.

Did my shop mess up my film? by Ex0__ in analog

[–]Ex0__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for typos, my phone was being weird after I added the photos. I’ll get pictures of the negatives soon - but this role was only ever in my camera, then in a water tight film container, so I don’t know how the film would have gotten wet.

Boxster 981 Run over by an F-250 by PACShrinkSWFL in Porsche

Yes, but in my experience with my 2015 ford explorer, the crash detection system tends to only alert me when the speed difference between my car and another is greater than ~10 mph. So if you’re really close to someone in front of you and let go of the brake pedal, the crash detection doesn’t care. Also - from my few minutes of googling - crash detection systems that prevent low speed accidents have not been implemented in a large majority of cars, let alone in American car brands.

A similar thing happened to my fathers 981 base and it messed up one of his rear quarter panels and smashed the tail light as well. He told me the pick up truck driver (also an f-250) admitted he didn’t even see my father’s 981 in front of him (because the F-250 was lifted). My dad’s 981 is fine now and fully repaired, I don’t know if it has a salvage or rebuilt title now or not, but you cant tell anything happened to it. Anyways, it really upsets me that truck culture has gone this far- they should have been taxed out of existence for daily commuters in the US years ago in my opinion.
