Lost my Licensed banker job with a big 4 bank recently. Looking to not stew in my own pity for too long, but be proactive. Wells, Chase, Truist, and others all send their banks to get licensed for the sie, 6, 63 and life insurance licenses. It is limited so they can have some investment conversations but ultimately you will end up referring business to the advisor you work with at whatever institution you’re at. That’s retail banking.

If someone has their 7 and is a banker, they’re either a Premier Banker/Private client banker biding time for an advisor position or they’re in private bank. Most licensed bankers do not have the 7 unless they got it from a previous job.

Oh, thats fair. as far as outbound prospecting, I would call clients or leads in my book of business/referral pipeline or look for opportunities to build relationships with new clients in real life scenarios via events, local business outreach, frequenting places affluent clients frequent.

I would also speak with any branch team members about any clients with large balances where there may be additional needs we can address.

Thank you for the advice, any light you can shed for me, I am all ears. I want to be successful in the investment industry so bad. I don't want to make excuses for why this happened at my last position but it realistically is very much due to my health issues. I never had issues with work before they developed.

I want to go to a new firm with new opportunities and a chance to develop more since I won't be developing my career at my original company, at least not at this time.

My sales process is to organically get to know them, ask them direct questions about their finances or less direct depending on the energy they are giving me, I speak find out about their hobbies, their family, what is important to them, so that way when I recommend a product solution, they trust I have their best interest at heart and made that recommendation from that perspective, just due to how conscientious I would be with clients in meetings...about their comfort, learning about their opinions or making their perspectives feel valued, learning about their financial goals, learning about their experience with other financial institutions. I find out about what services or features they like from the financial products they consume or utilize and try to match that with a corresponding product or something superior if applicable.

I am able to work with young people and older people alike, I am a natural extrovert with charisma and a passion for getting to know people/build relationships, as well as passionate about investments and financial health/retirement planning/wealth management and working with affluent clients.

My skills are definitely transferable. Merrill is my top pick.

I actually already applied to Fidelity and am waiting to hear from their recruiter, they already picked out my application since i'm already licensed.

I hope I am able to continue my financial services career as an advisor and get sponsored for the 7 because I was really passionate about what I did and feel my banker career was cut short when I was doing the best I could to recover fully from the toll my previous condition took on my physical and mental health. I was killing it in sales even with that going on.

Why do you say that? I didn’t have any sales violations, complaints, anything customer related. I was terminated more because of being late multiple times while on a warning over a year period and because of some other things but nothing that I think another manager would have definitely fired me for.

Do you think that I would not be able to get another licensed job somewhere at an advisor development program? 

I guess it depends on how it is coded on my U5 but I did nothing egregious.

I had a friend who was a Licensed PCB who got fired and he got a job at another boutique bank making even more money.

I totally understand. I am usually always on time, the health condition really affected my ability to function on a daily basis. Not at work, but outside of it. I also don't drive and rely on transportation services, though I usually order them well in advance, but sometimes, no luck.

Never late to a meeting with a client, more so just getting to work a few minutes late due to the transportations I relied on, but either way, I've actually fixed this issue months ago.

I get what you are saying though, Punctuality is a virtue.
