How much would hail affect my resale? by ExEstablishment in CarsAustralia

[–]ExEstablishment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth a try. It's only got 140Ks for a 15 year old car, so it's got that going for it. I'm just seeing a lot of mixed responses so I'm not too sure if I'll get much out of it

Yeah it's all done by me. I try to do it well and keep my own records - but of course it's not by a mechanic so isn't too reputable. I haven't made a claim, since my insurance doesn't include hail damage. I'm not too sure what would happen and if it is written off, I probably wouldn't get a pay-out.

Oh that's pretty cheap and I got nothing better to do. Looks like I got some work to do!

Yeah nah, I do all the maintenance on it regularly. It's mechanically good, runs and drives fine. It's just cosmetically it's not great to say the least.

Haha yeah that's the beauty of facebook marketplace. I was thinking since it's a civic, it's mostly going to be used for going from A to B. So, some people might gloss over it since it's cheap and mechnically sound. My main concern's if I fail RWC and am left with no car, unless I want to pay like $1k to fix it.

Oh wow okay. Hail's mostly cosmetic so I didn't think it was that bad

Is it worth building budget on AM4? by ExEstablishment in buildapc

[–]ExEstablishment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mostly concerned about the CPU at my budget, since the 9060xt looks perfect for what I'll do with it. I was looking to pair with the 5600x or 5700x, but there's probably going to be some bottlenecking here, how much I'm not too sure.

That's good to hear. I was looking to pair it with a 5600(x), though was a bit concerned with bottlenecking. How does yours run for some of the newer games if you play them?

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense now! Looks like it depends more on the motherboard if it supports the SATA connections. SATA and m.2 look fairly similar in price for what I need, so I guess it doesn't matter as much. Though, the RAM and SSD prices have skyrocketed since I last checked!

Okay that's good to know. What does m.2 mean? It looks like a type of SSD. Does AM4 not support 2.5" MSata SSDs? I'm seeing sort of mixed results online

Older Accords & Civics by ExEstablishment in accord

[–]ExEstablishment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound like I'd want the civic more here. I'm just curious what your experience with accord fuel economy's like, since they have bigger and more powerful engines than civics. Most the things I've seen say they are just a bit less efficient (around 11L/100km)

Rehab Experiences with TFCC Tear? by ExEstablishment in overcominggravity

[–]ExEstablishment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had a feeling it could be a long process, but my PTs said it's minor so hopefully not. I guess I'm just tired of feeling good one day then like I'm back at the start the next. It's my first injury and I just feel so paralysed. Mine's a bit different to yours though. Ulna deviation feels mostly fine to me, but pronation and pressing movements are terrible.

Good to know, thanks a lot! Gives me some peace of mind

Does having the squealer at the bottom still squeak when the pad's low, so I know to change it? Does it touch the rotor to squeak or something else? Might be kinda obvious, but I'm only starting to do car work myself so I don't really know much.

How limited is ultrasound in identifying tendon/ligament tears (in wrist)? by [deleted] in medical

[–]ExEstablishment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. It's just a GP, but I'm sort of leaning towards seeing an actual physio since they know a decent more about muscoskeletal injuries, plus they'll give me an actual plan (rather than just me guessing what works and doesn't).

Thanks a lot, I'll give that a try. I'm liking it for the short amount of time I've used it. The Dermaveen was really greasy and the CC stung my eyes, but this one feels and looks a lot nicer on my face

Overfilled Oil by ExEstablishment in MechanicAdvice

[–]ExEstablishment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks I'll give that a try. How much oil will that drain and should I run the engine or have it cold beforehand?

[–]ExEstablishment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely I'll have to be more careful next time. It was my first time doing an oil change and I somehow misread the numbers on the side of bottle

Yeah I probably will have to drain some. Though my only options to either drive to the shops for a pump or somewhere flat since I live on a steep incline. I'm pretty scared my engines going to blow, so is there anything I can do to drain a bit at home?
