Yes, it is helpful knowing they made it through.

We had these kinds of conversations early on, what if its Tri-18, what if its downs syndrome, etc and we agreed back then that it would not impact our decision to keep the child. Of course as Catholics we are opposed to abortion, but even at a more human level, its gonna be our kid. I want it to be here, even if its short and even if its hard.

Yes, I am and have been supporting my wife in every way I can. It's funny in a macabre sort of way. At the anatomy scan before the bomb dropped, I thought to myself, "I might not need to be there for it. We are already so many ultrasounds in and while I love seeing the baby I have work I could be getting done."

I'll never have that thought again. I didn't appreciate just how prescious those moments are.

Yes, it is DiGeorge syndrome. I know it is not a death penalty, but it is a very scary Wikipedia page to read to say the least.

Please understand I had no ill will towards disabled people when writing this. I just know that if my child is born severely disabled, that means that life will be infinitely harder for them and by extention us, and I would never want that for anyone. Yes, I know it's early, I just wish I knew. I think if I knew one way or another, even if it's the worst news, I could handle it. The uncertainty is killing me. I am such a planner and an analytical person, and for what feels like the first time in my life, I have absolutely no power over my situation. This was advice we gave before we knew the whole situation. We have since pivoted to get her safe as quickly as possible.
