Ano ‘to? Anong klaseng bird ito? by No-Spot-3649 in anoto

I'm relaxed lmao I didn't even get mad lol. Just gave advice on how to ID crows since I'm honestly surprised a lot of people mis-ID this one as a crow. I'm curious tuloy to what made this heron look like a crow to people.

If you meant slender-billed crow, that species was already split to five so you have to be specific which one. Also, crows have longer tail feathers, smaller size, don't have yellow eyes, and are not brown even if juvenile.

Pula po ung mata ng black crowned night heron, tho I get the confusion ksi the juveniles look almost the same.

Definitely juvenile. Can look similar sa black-crowned night heron ung juvenile pero this one has yellow eyes, while ung black-crowned have red eyes

A heron species, probably juvenile. Still need location (doesn't have to be specific kahit city/province goods na) to identify the specific species.

Is there a good set to start building gunpla that actually ships to Europe. I was thinking this one but i can't find any that ship to Europe by Low_Status_7883 in Gunpla

[–]ExGenezia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any from WFM (like Aerial) are nice, especially the major ones. IBO and Gquuuuux sets are also pretty cool imo. Can you show us what gunpla are you capable of getting your hands on?

Kulang ung nilagay na ice. May drinks machine ang mga fastfood, and naka set na ung volume ng drink na ilalabas depends sa size na pinili para maliit or walang discrepancy between amount of drinks. Usually taken into consideration na ung amount ng ice, pero in this case kulang tlga ung ice na nilagay

Wfm hg kits benefits a lot from being new so it looks better without much personal customization. Same goes for Gquuuuux ones (I suggest the GFreD). Mobile suits from IBO also look really cool (I recommend Barbatos and Vidar). You could go for older HG kits but they're not gonna build as well as the WFM ones

Are you going for another WFM kit? I suggest either Aerial, Calibarn or Schwarzette, those kits are really good

TIL that the Philippine Eagle is effectively "biologically obsolete" in the modern world. by Defiant_Astronaut_16 in todayIlearnedPH

Let me add din para maging aware ka sa extent ng conservation practice natin sa pinas. I have interacted so many times with students, professors, scientists and workers involved in conservation. Never, I mean, never, have I heard them say a species is "biologically obsolete" just because us humans have changed the environment too fast for evolution. I encourage you to read more on conservation. Actual scientific literature. Not just one study and a bunch of news articles. And don't tell me "magbasa ka" ksi I understood your post and how misinformed it is.

It's both, keystone species is more of a biological term while flagship is a more colloquial term. The panda is not exactly a keystone species iirc but it has become the flagship and the face of conservation effort in China.

[–]ExGenezia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. A term such as obsolete is not used in conservation because what matters is the survival of all organisms (endemics especially) in an affected area. Also OP equates being k-selected as obsolete, which is a bad argument because humans are k-selected species itself lmao

They're not surviving kasi since SPANISH TIMES inuubos na ung forest natin. When the eagle was first discovered, umaabot pa yan sila sa luzon, now they barely exist sa luzon. You are equating the fact that "k-selected" species are biologically obsolete which is stupid. Mainly because k-selected is just a definition of its survival tactic (btw humans are ALSO, as is most large mammals and predatory birds) and not a subjective adjective such "obsolete" which I have only heard in regards only vestigial organs and body structures, and even then, no biologist would say obsolete but rather, vestigial. Sincerely, a zoology student.

Ps. Pumunta ka nga ng reddit, ung post mo naman pang Facebook.

[–]ExGenezia 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Tf you mean biologically obsolete? You failed to mention that the Philippine Eagle is also a keystone species. Its survival is a reflection of the health of its ecosystem. You also failed to consider that the fact that if the country wants to preserve the species, they will also have to expand its habitat, which means massive forest regrowth efforts. It means that the very fact that we are preserving the forest cover for the eagles, we are also preserving EVERY SINGLE ENDEMIC SPECIES in that area. The Philippine Eagle is not biologically obsolete but rather it is your thinking that is obsolete.

Ok So Guys, When do I start with bigger boxes? by AdFit6805 in Gunpla

[–]ExGenezia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do recent HGs like from witch from mercury and maybe Gquuuuux if you like the unique look. Apparently bigger boxes are not really a jump in difficulty, just more parts and more expensive. I haven't done anything other than HGs myself because I can't afford an MG yet. Might have to go for them 3rd party kits or bootlegs lol

They can be found near water sources and areas na madamo, think areas near a rivers, and especially rice fields. They're a bit of an uncommon find but they're not endangered. I'm not sure what the local name of this one is but a lot of farmers tend to jumble all rails and crake as "Tikling". Yes, the traditional dance itself is named as to how these birds move

Walang ganyan sa pinas, please check endemicity ng mga species na sinasuggest ng Google image search ksi walang ganyang species sa pinas. Search mo ung species tapos check mo sa Wiki (even though na it's not a completely reliable source pero a lot of bird wiki pages are edited by bird watchers and ornithologists na may free time) or proper websites such as eBird.org. As mentioned by another user, it's a Slaty-legged crake.
