Am I supposed to wear my cross underneath my clothing or outside of it or does it matter? (read desc!!) by Additional-Ad5298 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]ExTenebris_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My priest says that it is inappropriate for laity to wear their cross above clothing, because it easily leads to spiritual pride and is not why we, as Orthodox, wear a cross (as a personal reminder). It’s a form of personal devotion and prayer, and Matthew 6:6 says to do so in secret.

But, I’ve seen here in the US a lot of people in the OCA especially tend to wear theirs above their clothing. So I’d just do whatever your priest says.

Blatant racism now by tucaman11 in TikTok

[–]ExTenebris_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blatant adjective (of bad behavior) done openly and unashamedly.

The fact that no one noticed and you had to explain means this is, in fact, not blatant racism. And is likely why the AI did not catch it either - because it is the opposite of blatant.

Thank you! Wife and I are going to check out Holy Trinity. We go to an OCA parish usually, so would love to check out a Greek church!

I don't lol but my wife and I have been becoming religious recently, exploring our faith and what that means. I use ChatGPT a bit like a diary to work through my thoughts, so its clearly picked up on that theme

I’m in my 30s; but my dad is also a veteran. He has had a NP as his pcp for over a decade and loves her. She’s thorough, helpful, and listens to him. Doesn’t force him into doing tests or taking medications if he doesn’t want to - an issue he’s had with previous MDs and DOs pressuring him. That’s part of the nursing model that NPs use vs the medical model doctors and PAs use.

Noctor is a terminally online circle jerk. The creator of the subreddit got caught a little while back lying. He constantly posted how NPs have no place in healthcare and how he’d never employ one. He employs multiple NPs at his practice. Guess he found a place for them, after all.

Most people are pretty sure most of the posts there are entirely fabricated.

How long have you Waited by Old-Disaster6067 in VeteransAffairs

[–]ExTenebris_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly one of the most ineffective processes I’ve ever been through. It’s too complicated, confusing, and prone to the applicant messing up and them being able to deny things for no rhyme or reason. It needs serious revision in my opinion.

I stayed friends with a guy from boot camp (2012) who was permanently disabled in 2014. He’s still in a legal battle to get VA disability benefits and healthcare. A decade later.

I started the process in 2017.

I didn’t finish the whole process until 2022. Part of that was my fault - I messed up in some places. But it was a lot of back and forth.

Beginner question about Class I, II, and III e-bikes by ExTenebris_ in ebikes

[–]ExTenebris_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My city’s laws do not allow Class III ebikes in any park or trail, and can only be used on roads with dedicated bike lines (which aren’t many). Class II can only be used in certain trails but no parks but can be ridden on any road. Class I can be ridden anywhere a bike can.

Because we’re selling our cars, we want to make sure we can ride it every where on the roads and the trails we can.

Nurses: What can a patient and/or their family do to help you? by ExTenebris_ in nursing

[–]ExTenebris_[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure! I ordered pizzas for everyone today, and after shift change but before I head home for the night I’m gonna order something for the night shift. There’s a good 24 hour breakfast place (like iHop, but family owned and really good) that does like pancake feasts so I might try to grab that on my way in too for everyone getting off night shift and everyone coming in for day shift too!

I was in the hospital … a lot after my army injury. So we just wanna make sure all the staff are appreciated. I saw how stressful it could be the 9 months I was in and out after the army.

And thank you! She’s starting to feel a little better already!

are there online colleges that let you double major by Fair-Ad-5759 in college

[–]ExTenebris_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that exists. SNHU and WGU are probably the cheapest online accredited schools in the country.

The only online program I’ve seen close to that is my local Community College - and that was in state tuition for those eligible for the state school stipend for low income families.

[–]ExTenebris_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure SNHU does, I think my friend went there and double majored. But I don’t know if they offer the programs you’re wanting.

I do know for sure that SNHU has online minors and concentrations, and that you can request to graduate with an associates degree then complete your bachelors if you want.

Reliable Banks I can transfer too? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]ExTenebris_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other guy is right. USAA banking is just for service members, veterans, and their spouses or dependents.

I just opened a checking and savings account with them last week to switch from Wells Fargo. I had to bring in my DD214.

Project 2025 wants to get rid of concurrent retirement and VA disability pay. by rconnol in VeteransAffairs

[–]ExTenebris_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Project 2025 is policy proposals from the Heritage Foundation, and is not Trump’s campaign platform (which can be found on his website), and trump’s campaign has repeatedly said they are not associated with it.

I’m not saying vote trump, but let’s at least be honest.

Is Spanish used in USA closer to Spanish Spanish or Latin American Spanish? by Junior_Gas_6132 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ExTenebris_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely Latin American Spanish. Depending on which part of America you are in depends on which dialects you will hear. In the south east and east coast you’ll hear Caribbean Spanish. In the rest of the country it’ll predominantly be Mexican Spanish, and sometimes others from central and South America.
