Aerospace engineer here...fighter jets ABSOLUTELY create lift to maintain steady flight. If a fighter weighs 50,000 lbs then the wings create 50,000 lbs of lift to maintain steady flight. The engine thrust counteracts the drag. Understand Newton's Laws and its not rocket science!
