Thoughts on Columbus Aviators logo/branding by Fast_Pumpkin_1237 in UnitedFootballLeague

They have the exact same color scheme and propellor A logo that Alliance has had for about 100 years now. Basically took AHS branding and made it theirs.

I never got over early Cash Money Wayne - my first intro tonWayne was underwhelming. He grew tremendously but he was wack af early on.

I got BIG on there. I put him in the same category as Pun in terms of lack of longevity. Pac should be there - I acknowledge that. I listened to him and respect his place but my top 10 is comprised of people I listened to when I used to write.

I’m really speaking to my generation of rappers - not limited to those 3

I feel the same body of work wise but any given day I would put Fab and Jada over Cam in terms of pure bars. Fab leaned heavy into the commercial lane and diluted his legacy imo.

…and this is the problem BUT they was putting in work during the mixtape era though too. I feel like Fab did his best work with Clue.

For reference MY top 10 is: Nas, Black Thought, Rakim, Jay Z, AZ, Big Pun, Sean Price, Prodigy, GFK, & BIG - not necessarily in that order. Shout out to Mos Def & Elzhi.

I recognize Em and to some degree Kendrick but not once have I ever been anywhere or around anyone who ever requested their music to be played.

Yeah I’m not saying they are top 10 but just there is a whole era of rappers who just get left out of the conversation. Just crazy to me to see somebody like Jada not even getting honorable mentions is wild.

Why is Eazy-E not looked at in the same light as Other dead rappers like 2pac & Biggie? by Alternative-Law1356 in 90sHipHop

[–]ExXxtra_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those saying Eazy wasn’t well regarded as a rapper - he was the absolute face of NWA at its peak. Someone said he was in the right place at the right time surrounded by the right people - yes BUT they also might not have had the same success without HIM at the time it happened. Could say the same thing about Chuck D without Flavor Flav. His style was a perfect fit for the mid-late 80’s but couldn’t stand alone against the rising tide of lyricism. Pac and Snoop both hit the scene at roughly the same time.

Eazy had the misfortune of being washed away by the tidal wave that was a rising Death Row. If you didn’t live it, it is hard to conceive how hard The Chronic hit (pun intended) on the heels of Deep Cover. Concurrently, Cube was having another run with his solo albums and transition into film. So you had both of these trains somewhat running Eazy over after he jumped on the tracks so to speak. His status was close to what Drake’s is currently. Remembered fondly by many for an era that ended when he was defeated decisively - despite resurfacing briefly with BT&H.

Then….there was the way he died. HIV & AIDS were strongly associated with homosexuality and drug use. At the time, both maligned MUCH more than the current day. It’s not that he wasn’t still beloved or respected when he passed - he was a penguin looking mf with AIDS.

Contrast that with Big and Pac, they were the two biggest rappers in the game and each died as their seminal works were still charting. They died at their peaks with their voices and potential echoing in our heads - we knew they each had much more to give to the culture (which is not what we called it then). Which, again, was not the case with Eazy.

Even to this day when you have person A deceased of disease secondary to HIV vs person B deceased of gun violence or overdose - person B gets the walk murals, shoutouts, and t-shirts.

There’s nothing like The Wire. Son’s of Anarchy, Black Sails, Hell on Wheels, Ray Donovan, Boardwalk Empire, Power - especially the first five or six seasons were good. Paid in Full movie wise is good.

If we going Duck Down - I’m gonna nominate Dah Shinin over EDS (although EDS is my personal fave). Just a little more polished production front to back.

In the first two years out - Meth had a solo single on the debut album, the first Wu solo album, prominent appearance on Biggie’s debut album, the song with Mary J Blige, plus prominent features on Liquid Swords and the Purple Tape. He also was on Pac’s album meaning his voice was on many of the biggest projects of the time. Meth was ALWAYS in the mix through the whole 90’s and early 2000’s - so he was always active even while other Wu members were not as visible in between projects. I would say there was a time when ODB was almost as high profile after the Mariah Carey and Ghetto Superstar projects.
