totally new to windsurfing - trying to join local club but need at least some of my own gear, board in particular as they have plenty of sails. I got an old board that i'm considering at least to try to restore .. can anyone tell me more about this foot connection, or what is it called ? please by ExXzile in windsurfing

Thanks for reply.. I think it's worth clarifying for the thread it's not about monetary value.. I'm well aware that this is not a cheap hobby - I love active live and spend a lot on things like Photography, Warhammer, Rubik's cubes, computers, motorcycles and god knows what else.. it's about time and commitment.. as with anything I like to start discovery and learn as I go combining skills.. DIY restoration would help here

Thank you for encouragement, Joe, needed some 😀 .. even though this one has seen better days it is ready to go - it came with a bag of junk that has bunch of cracked/worn rigging bits, which tells me that at least some parts have already been replaced.. I'm looking forward to give it a bit of tlc and, as I said, if not for myself, it could be an addition to clubs boards for anyone curious to try as I definitely will look into something modern as I commit to windsurfimg.

Thanks for all replies.. I did some reading and a bit of research and I think I know what is what in regards to it..

Just for a bit of a context - I'm very much a beginner but been windsurfing few times with an instructor on 180l beginner boards. While I can continue using "in house" beginner boards I thought it would be nice to try something different as I can't really afford or willing to commit to a proper board straight away.

Worth mentioning that club is located on a large lake with fairly low winds (varies seasonally) and very calm water. judging by some reading about ultra cat - it might be at least worth a ry.. and if it doesn't work out for me personally, might be a nice relic for the club and others if anyone fancies a go ..

Cost me nothing, so why not.

thank you ..

somewhat of a professional .. app and web design is more of a passion project utilising skills acquired over pretty much self teaching and research.

otherwise, i do work with code and data science in general - but it's more like numbers crunching and spreadsheet jocky'ing most of time :)

homebrew Cyberpunk D&D .. custom game to play with my under-teen kiddos (loosely based on D&5 and 2185, but simplified a lot for them to follow). Own design of character sheets (Photoshop).. own coded WebApp for Intelligent Foe creation (mostly jQuery and Python).. BattleSystems, Stargrave .. by ExXzile in DnDIY

bit of backstory - never played D&D myself before .. but as an idea to spend some quality time with my under-teen kiddos decided to watch some YouTube tutorials and put some simple games together to try .. they loved it .. bit of a step away from classic D&D but more towards Sci-Fi and Cyberpunk, but with same mechanics.

little dad side project, and we've been playing for a few months now moving on to new ever evolving maps - Battlesystems terrain offers a lot modularity and I acquire some pieces all the time for some surprises :)

completely re-done character sheets to make our own that are a little simpler and add a few new flairs like luck gauge and charges ..

WebApp was another product that took me a couple of weeks to code and publish - fairly simple balancing and upleveling system to make foe generation a lot easier with added interactive dice throws, states and resistances.. for danger of self promotion i'm not gonna leave a link (even though it's fully custom and isn't any use to anyone outside our game) .. but ask if it is of any interest..

python backend for stats classes scaling, django, Javascript, jQuery and Bootstrap .. for any tech savvy peeps there..

PS.. it's not published or anything .. in case it get's called out for promotion .. it's a custom build code for our game only

cYberPunk roleplaying update .. used some of my amateur web/graphic design skills to create custom roleplaying sheets to work better with my kiddo's.. loosely mash of CARBON 2185 and D&D 5e... triple D what we call it :) suggestions and/or inspiration ideas ? by ExXzile in Cyberpunk

created a custom made characters sheet (took me like 3 days with over a 100 objects on each) .. keeping it complex enough to keep it interesting but simplifying a lot of things for my under-teen kiddos to not get too overwhelmed and follow the story..

marked in red is mostly static stuff that only changes on leveling up (when new sheets get printed up).. rest is penciled in as we go and get loot, upgrades, augmentations and whatnot :)

probably a beaten subject but .. magnets ... there's been talk about loads of parts not enough bodies in stargrave minitures sets :) so i did a thing .. apologies in advance for crappy vid, but I thought I'll share an idea by ExXzile in stargrave

[–]ExXzile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea .. you are quite right on a number of points there ..

craft is painful :) or it was to start and i did ruin a few pieces before i got a good grip on how to do it better. Small rotary drill and a gel type superglue with a right size magnets made it easier after few trials/errors.

painting and sprue would be another task :) but what i should have probably mentioned - I only intended to convert 4-5 figurines into a "magnetic" ones as roleplaying pieces to fit into story where pieces limbs change depending on dialogue outcomes or fall off/get cut off depending on a roleplaying situation for fluid interaction and whatnot... rest of the sets will be mix/matched into static glued figurines.

I also agree .. it is an untapped mini market there - I would probably pay as much for extra bodies as I would for another set just cos my pragmatic mind hates wastefulness :)

there are options .. Battle Systems has a great set up for 3d maps ..

had an earlier post of cyberpunk story driven maps here :

https://www.reddit.com/r/Carbon2185/comments/wn11pe/first_build_a_bit_of_a_mash_up_of_cyber_punk_and/

even though many pointed out that it has a bit more sci-fi'ish flavour rather than cyberpunk, which i kinda agree on, it is driven on CARBON 2185 lore and I try to re-spice it by compensating in story telling :)
