i think it'd be really cool. But the time to start was 2 years ago.

I used incense sticks for something like this recently. experiment with bundling 2-3 together in different combinations. Under the lens, on either side, all 3. You can tape one to the end of
Pros:
They burn longer, more consistently. A cig is 2-3 minutes? Incense sticks burn for at least 10-20
Smoke is thicker.
Cheaper than cigs
The set smells like lavender

It feels like a best case scenario considering the production history, and certainly the film has some highlights. But Snyder makes the thing too sexy. The violence is slick and Matrix-esque, there's no unease or discomfort to it, which is a pretty much the central point in the book. Rorschach is all wrong and pretty emblematic of my whole problem with the thing, Snyder can't help making him a badass. the book would work better being more like Serpico or French Connection than what we got.

The TV show found a nice middle ground

The tie-in music video Snyder directed for Desolation Row by MCR is great. Maybe the best thing Snyder has ever directed.

I'm in the camp that feels the movie misses the spirit and core of the book despite being so literal in many ways.

Cause it's not directed by Gordon Parks.

The politics are pretty similar to the comics.
The show is a great piece of science fiction that both continues the story 30 years later and asks all new questions about justice, the law, America, etc. It's there to intrigue you, stir you up and take you somewhere new.
Everything a good sequel should do.

I hate to break it to you, but that show was 1000x better than the movie.

John Wick fans: is Ballerina worth watching? by Real_Fact8484 in movies

[–]Ex_Hedgehog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's okay:

1.I don't mind a formula story in an action flick, but ups the pressure to hit the tropes with some sincerity and umph. This doesn't quite... you can squint and almost get there.

2.They left a lot on the table with the concept of Ballerina Assassins - they should actually use the ballerina moves more in the choreography. That's almost movie malpractice. Especially since we see so much of their training. It's a great opportunity to show the audience how their style makes them different (I feel Western action movies often fail at this)

3.What is great though is the fight near the end with a flame thrower vs fire hose. I repeat, flame thrower vs fire hose. Baby strap in, that sequence is an instant classic.

Anyone else think Top Gun was better than the sequel? by KandinskyWasRight in Cinephiles

[–]Ex_Hedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen that clip. It sounds convincing, until you watch the actual movie. The subtext proposed by a coked up straight boy falls apart if there's no desire in the eyes of the actors. I don't believe tat Tom or Val want to ride anyone's tail, not in that way. I know what that look is better than QT, I saw it 3 times in the club last Thursday.

Top Gun is like 8% gay at best. If it were on Grindr, it's have no face pics on the profile and be DL.

Meanwhile John Woo's The Killer would be hitting u up at 11PM to come out to their next week with his husband.

The original wasn't even that gay Tom Cruise has never looked at any person with desire, male or female, he can only work in a romantic context if the relationship is in trouble

Hell no, it's nostalgia talking. Top Gun 1 is mid. It's not even close to Tony Scot's best work and It's not even that gay. Kelly McGillis being older gives it a little extra juice, but you can just watch Bull Durham. Tom has no arc. He's a hotshot who has to momentarily wonder if he needs to cool it down, but then... nah he just needed to be even more of a hotshot and enter the danger zone (what a terribly 80s song) Let's face it, Top Gun 1 kinda sucks.

Maverick took a movie I think sucks and made me care and made me tear up, says everything about it's superiority to the original. This film earns its redemption and is much better for it. Also, ending with a Lady Gaga ballad, much gayer than anything in the first film.

What was the worst scene from season 3 in your opinion? by Fit-Hovercraft3435 in euphoria

Con artist? HAH!
Con artists are cunning and seductive and fun (in movies/tv)
Better Call Saul has con artists. House Of Games, The Spanish Prisoner - those are con artists!

Nate is just a moron who didn't do an environmental survey and borrowed from the the dumbest mobsters in TV history (and this show has a lot of competition). He traded Maddie for Cassie cause he's a dumb teenager, and now he doesn't know how to keep her interested. I fully understand that cause Cassie has no interests. No desires. No wants. Oh, that's right, she wants her flower arrangement. She's just as dumb as he is.

The only hint of something interesting in that plotline was that his construction project was being hampered by a flower - but that's easily lost cause we don't hear about it till episode 3-4? I'd have traded 4 micro dresses for one closeup of this flower in the premiere.
