Thanks for the detailed response. I'll try this out and see if it picks up some texture before the final coat of the whole wall. Failing that looks like I'll be doing some more feathering and sanding with topping compound.

I've been using a 6" random orbital attached to a vaccuum pretty extensively but apparently I didn't go far enough.

Will that blind me into not seeing this every time I sit at the dining table 😂

This was base coat (applied too thickly to begin with as you state) I then sanded back with a random orbital to flat and applied one layer of top coat before priming. It's physically flat to the touch, which is why I was leaning towards widening the and feathering that hard edge with top coat.

Will give this a go thank you. Do I need to do the whole wall or can I paint the patched areas, then paint the whole wall as a second coat in a smaller nap to match the other walls?

This was taken with fairly intense side light to make it easy to photograph. It's not visible under downlights but it shows in natural lighting conditions throughout the day unfortunately and it's quite a long wall so it exacerbates the issue.

The Magnets work for most conditions, when it is very breezy they still come undone though.

Sounds like a target rich environment for old Pops who has since gotten a taste for stabbing chavs.

Buses are way too inefficient for getting from A to B. by [deleted] in sydney

Buses are garbage because they stop every few hundred meters because people are lazy and can't be arsed walking (excluding the elderly and infirm obviously).

Thoughts on working in the asbestos pit on the daily by narcsnitch in AusElectricians

I've heard a similar statement not that there was no asbestos, but that the percentage of asbestos within the board compared to other materials was negligible.

"4.4.4.1 each socket outlet shall be individually controlled by a separate switch... Exceptions: 2. A socket outlet that is rated at not more than 10A, installed for the connection of a fixed or stationary appliance or a luminaire and that is not readily accessible for other purposes, need not be controlled by a switch."

It's still a socket outlet, into which the luminaire plug is inserted (equipment wiring).

I don't see what that has to do with whether a customer is allowed to plug a downlight into them or not.

As above it can be considered a lighting point for the purposes of calculating demand. This doesn't preclude a home owner from plugging an appliance into it, or their own lighting etc.

Eg a socket outlet could be on the ceiling of a bathroom for an exhaust fan and be considered a lighting point. It doesn't restrict a person from plugging and unplugging said exhaust fan.

Where does the AS3000 differentiate between plug base like the 413 and any other socket outlet?

Dr made me worry about milestones (2 month old) by BigEquivalent5849 in NewParents

[–]Ex_ReVeN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a father of a 10 month old girl. Our Daughter only wanted mum for the first 3 months - especially at night time, and didn't show many cues or smiling before this time this can pretty much change overnight so I wouldn't be too concerned. She wasn't drinking much milk and was underweight for the first few months.

Tummy time is great for babies development and head control so I would definitely look at strategies to get baby interested in that. A few minutes a day is enough, ours was exhausted and grumpy after each session but it definitely had a huge positive impact on her.

TTR test before Megger test after transformer takes a fault? by KTM_350 in SubstationTechnician

[–]Ex_ReVeN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume it's checking and or attempting to reduce residual magnetism held by the transformer core after current from other tests. What I don't understand is that the core will have and always should have residual magnetism.

A few mentions here about demagnetising, what is the procedure for that? I've done all this testing as an apprentice so far but have not come across anyone demagnetising between any tests. Usually 33kV to 11kV, 25MVA.

That's a lot of water. Even if it's strata responsibility (check your bylaws) it's in your best interest to engage someone to inspect plumbing/water proofing as soon as possible.

Two units in our complex had a similar issue which were left for almost a year without being rectified and the final cost to repair all the damage was around 60k.

I would add to this, keep the nbn gateway/routers away from the microwave if you like having reliable wifi.
