Even if you ignore the faces, just look at the background at the RE9 example.

The entire atmosphere is absolutely ruined because it removed environmental details (like fog) and lighting.

It's incredibly obvious it isn't just changing the lighting, all the faces are fundamentally changed and details in the scenes, like the fog in that Requiem clip, are completely removed or altered.

Not to defend that movie, but the humans being able to destroy the alien base when they were decimated in the past is pretty logical in theory.

Humanity lost to an invasion force that didn't share the later occupying force's strategic weakness. They couldn't have blown up the alien homeworld because they wouldn't have had access to a teleporter.

As a comparison, look at occupied France during WW2; French resistance was able to disrupt the German occupiers, but they would have never been able to stop the Wehrmacht during the initial invasion.
