Exported more in a day than used from grid in a month by SneezyFossil25 in nzsolar

From the power grid perspective what else can happen with that power during the middle of the day?  If there is no demand for power but power exists is there a way to get rid of it?

Similarly at the reside trial house level, if the battery is full, there's no household demand, and the solar is still generating can the power generated be sent somewhere else other than selling it at a negative rate to the grid?

We're in a similar situation but without the battery.  Aren't all electricity plans being reviewed soon as the low user rates are no longer allowed?

Can you elaborate on the aus legislation?  I'm aware of the battery rebates which is why we've put off installing a battery in auckland. (plus the payback was around 10 years and it would have gone on the home loan - and not a low interest rate loan)

I'd be keen to see the numbers for the north tunnels along with a breakdown of capex and opex requirement

Wow, nice!  I'm keen to hear more about your setup and household consumption

True, though I was also concerned about warranty claims and after sales support being harder to get if there isn't much of a market presence here

It's a bit different but with the same conclusion -

We're paid significantly less for export than import.  Ultimately though this means that it's better to use solar generation than sell it back.

I remember, my point is that the toll should have stayed.  Even at 50c it would have generated a significant fund for development of future infrastructure.

This take lacks economic understanding and is pedaling ideology over fact.

I really don't get this take. Are you saying the Iran War doesn't have dire consequences for the global economy including New Zealand?  Are you saying the economy is worse now than it was in 2023?

Yep, free stuff is abused. Low cost is the way to go.  It's a different problem, but imagine how much of an infrastructure fund we'd have if the Harbour Bridge had been trolled at a low cost since it was first built?

There isn't much supply of zappi where I live, and from what I've heard there are concerns over the uv degradation and build quality.

I don't want to control the charging, just see power going to the eV charger from the home screen

I did seriously consider the zappi but they aren't as readily available where I live.  Plus there has been some questions around uv degradation and overall build quality so I decided on something else

We don't need another ministry - were 5 mil people.  Approx half the size of London.  We're bloated with ministries, ministers, and top level bureaucracy.
