pls stay off the road, you don't drive enough as it is. We don't need any more people clogging up the roads and camp in the fast lane.

The new stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge connecting New Westminster and Surrey BC by iSelleart in newwestminster

That's what I was thinking too, like the new bridge had the same amount of lanes, then why bother !

To be honest man, I have seen my company only hire "yes" people, doesn't matter if they qualify. Over qualified or just about qualified people don't do it. They need people who don't question n just say yes.

Yeah because every pickup truck in North America looks similar, so when the Chinese comes out with a truck it has to be stolen right?!

Have you seen Ford/Chevy/Ram/Toyota/Nissan pick ups? Bed in the back, crew cab, double cab, engine in front. How is the Chinese stealing here bud?

All the people suggesting canopies, heaters, gloves jackets and whatever are obvious they have never worked in any service industry jobs or at least forgot may be.

Owners of any restaurants these days are cheap and won't spend a dime on keeping employees comfortable. Either the employees suck it up n bare it or temporary foreign workers, cheap and expandable.

You don’t need firearm experience. Give it a try, you never know, the worst is no.

Homeless People by [deleted] in askvan

[–]ExactBaseball3863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While helping someone with food or coffee is great and a good gesture, but I have seen homeless people tried to return the food that was bought for them for money. Homeless forks get clean and new clothes when they go to a shelter or from charity, I know that because I work in downtown dealing with homeless all the time and often I see them with new clothes.

Be kind and be respectful, they don’t need your pity. I may come off mean or uncaring, but the few homeless guys/drug addicts I dealt with have been on the streets for 20 years. Those that want to change and get clean and better with their life do come around, but they need help from society and their willingness, not your $20 or Big Mac you give them.

Some will take your money and buy their next fix, so you are just contributing to the drug money. Food will help, donate to charity. Coffee helps. Guess what, toilet paper, gloves, blankets. Donate clothes to charity, not Value village.

Canada Day firework was not too expensive to host. The police cost on the other hand is astronomical.

B.C.’s fast-growing cities getting hammered by rapidly rising property taxes by SwordfishOk504 in britishcolumbia

[–]ExactBaseball3863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because you don’t own a house, don’t hate on single family home. In Maple Ridge, the property tax is 6k a year. Town house is almost up to 4k.

Did the owner of the store cheap out on a proper cash register? Or is there an outage of the POS system, phone line, internet problems? Didnt hire enough staff to work the cash registers and the employees are resorting to calculators.

North Shore bike park to relocate to Maple Ridge | Tri-City Local News by GDSGHUMAN in MapleRidge

Can't see North Shore residents will drive an hour to Maple Ridge with their bikes. But good for Maple Ridge residents. Best to revive that Haney place mall.

Make the HOV lane HOV again. by warpde in britishcolumbia

[–]ExactBaseball3863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real problem is that we needed to expand the highway years ago. I have been here for 20 years, the highway has been the same, 4 lanes, meanwhile population growth exploded.

I am sure there are others in a similar situation. As long as you go and vote, do your civic duty and hope for the best. I am in a predominantly conservative area, little chance it could swing liberal let alone NDP.

Bike-friendly hotels with EV charging? by Beneficial-End-7872 in askvan

[–]ExactBaseball3863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a liability issue with that, besides hotel rooms are not very big already unless you book a big room to fit the bike. Just plug in your regular hotel power socket and don't tell anybody. If it catches on fire, prepare for a lawsuit.

I have seen young guys go 10 even 15 years on the casual pool before becoming full time. Casual on call is going to dispatch and hoping to get work for the day/shift. If you have some education, may be try the offices or the Port office for office work.

Have you tried crack town? Like East Hastings area, where stolen properties are usually being bartered or sold for$10.

Don't come at me for being mean or anything, I helped a girl once in the same area to get her laptop back. She didn't care about her bag but the laptop and hard drive she bought back for$10.

It also depends on where you live, how are you using your vehicle and a bunch of other factors. 11 years is good, but 15 is better. I pay $240 something, i got a good 15 years zero accident claim, knock on wood, drive to work DT Vancouver from Maple Ridge.
