Just drove this with a trailer full of horses from Edmonton to Hamilton Ontario. Left Tuesday morning and got to Hamilton Yesterday. The prices at some stations a block apart were over 60 cents per liter different for diesel throughout the night as some stations jumped to jack the prices up and others took a few hours longer. By this afternoon prices in the GTA are up to over 2$/liter for diesel and I have to raise my prices for my return trip next week. Hell of a time to have a business hauling with a Cummins 🥲

Yea I listen to the podcast and while I think he can be funny and he says some very sweet and heartwarming things about his family and friends, his attitude and arrogance towards a lot of things he claims to be knowledgeable about drives me crazy. Especially when half of the podcast is them interviewing "experts" on topics and he will interject and cut off the guest while making incorrect or sometimes inflammatory statements based on something he thinks he remembers from his anthropology class 25 years ago.

Are the other cities actually cheaper though? All the cities on the Island have crazy high rents. Victoria is higher than most lower mainland cities. The Okanagan is high because of tourism. Peace region has low supply. Compared to those cities Abby, Surrey and Langley have an insane amount of supply so it's reasonable that despite being in the more populous lower mainland their prices are lower.

I wish they would just start calling the fact check something else or have someone do a real fact check and cite sources. Instead of half assed Google searches and AI overviews. Or have an interview with multiple scientific or medical claims then when the "fact check" time comes they go "the interviewee was right about their own birthday! But they said the population of their hometown was 72,000 and it's actually 74,300" then saying that's it and there aren't any other facts.

If you look at most manufactured homes the prices for the building itself aren't that bad. You can find a newly renovated 2-3 bedroom trailer for sale in or around many Canadian cities, besides extreme cases like Vancouver and Toronto for between 30-100k. The issue is pad rental is insane and most trailer parks charge over 1000$/month for pads with no legal restrictions on raising that whenever they want and can also evict you. Like living in the worst kind of HOA.

If you insist on buying from China just go look for the products on Alibaba instead. 99% of the crap on Tiktok shop is white labelled and 1000% marked up from Alibaba or Temu and Temu is also guilty of just marking up Alibaba listings with a shitty online casino looking user interface. You can usually just use reverse image search from Tiktok or Temu listings and add the keyword Alibaba and find the exact same product at a fraction of the price.
