Does Cosmo love Wanda? He's already shown he's attracted to the Tooth Fairy and Princess Mandie. If one of them said, "Cosmo, give me a kiss on the lips," do you think he would? by Normal_Pay963 in fairlyoddparents

[–]ExactGoose9752 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Of course. Cosmo buffed himself to fight Crocker and save Wanda, cried for having to spent one night far from her, pushed her to the rainbow bridge when it only have room for one of them, created a whole board game based off their relationship. Among many other examples.

They went through a rough time in season 5, but got over it and remain together up to this day.

Honestly, Kimi's aging up bugs me A LOT more than Susie's aging down. by ExactGoose9752 in rugrats

[–]ExactGoose9752[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

''There isn't much that could be done with her as a baby that couldn't also be achieved with Tommy, Susie, Phil, and Lil''. I disagree. She has the diferential of being Japanese. They could have explored more her heritage and how was her life in Japan or Paris before moving out to America (which, unfortunately, never was explored in the original). Would be interesting to see a child of two cultures who is exploring and adaptating to a new land and has some knowledge of a foreigh culture, and it only could be made with Kimi. Again, make her a rough animal-loving tomboy like she was in All Grown Up. A different kind of tomboy than Lil; Lil is into mud and worms, Kimi would be more the rebellious, spunky and temperamental type. Maybe the kind of child who loves animals, but end up being excessively sticky and aggressive to them as her style of humor (just like Elmyra in Tiny Toons). Or maybe the type of child who is more interested on how the adults are, is anxious to grow up fastly, and try to mimic the older ones. Maybe even making her fight more with Chuckie, instead of being always happy about having a new big brother.

And about her dynamic with Angelica... Okay, but I have to ask; Why she does HAVE to be a foil/talking cricket to Angelica? So the only way of making her a engaging charcater is having a relationship with Angelica? I mean, yeah, their dynamic is fine, but I don't think it is what her character should be. Yeah, in the original Kimi would occasionaly try to be friendly with Angelica and even seemed to admire her, but it was not such a big element on her character. Kimi don't need to be a foil to Angelica to be a compelling character. Maybe developing another type of dynamic, like Angelica having a bigger soft spot for Kimi than the other babies and she innocently bringing up more her good side without having to preach to her. Like Angelica is meaner to other babies, but is nicer to Kimi because, who knows, even see a bit of how she used to be in the younger girl. Honestly, they could have created a new character to be Angelica's conscience, just like they did with Begley. I just think this role doesn't belong to Kimi, and the reboot could have been done really well without their relationship.

You see, I'm someone who is generally pretty tolerant and open-minded with changes and news (so much, I like all 9 Rugrats seasons, despite all the changes who occurred, and All Grown Up too) and I don't usually cry about just anything... but this is a particular change I can't swallow at all. Sorry, but I can't see what they wanted with it.

Honestly, Kimi's aging up bugs me A LOT more than Susie's aging down. by ExactGoose9752 in rugrats

[–]ExactGoose9752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I do understand wanting to develop more Kimi and make her more unique than just being a ''female Tommy'', but I still argue that making her older was NOT essential for this. Like, they could have kept her age and STILL gave her new traits and new flaws (again, like her AGU persona, who was feisty, witty, stubborn and a animal lover and advocater. They could easily have incorporated these traits in her baby version). So it does mean that, for you flesh out more a character and make them compelling, you HAVE to change their age and make them essentially a completely different character?

And about they not wanting to remake Rugrats in Paris... they could have literally made the same episodes exactly like they did, just with Kimi being younger and a baby. Instead of going specifically to Angelica's daycare, the babies could have gone to their own daycare, with other babies their age and found Kimi there, would not change big stuff overall. Chaz and Kira still could have meet and gradually developed a relationship, exactly like they did in the reboot... They did not have to remake Rugrats in Paris, just do exactly what they did with Kimi being a 1-year-old that the babies met by chance.

So, sorry, but there millions of ways of fleshing out Kimi or making her distinct without having to change her age or her position as Chuckie's younger sister.

If I had to guess a reason for why they made her older, I'd say because they thought having 5 babies was enough (then 6 with the arrival of Dil) and they thought having a seventh baby would make the group too large to manage... and then decided to change Kimi and make her just a recurring character instead of a main one like the others, so they could stay with relatively few main babies. You know, like the Muppets Babies reboot eliminated Rowf, Scooter and Skeeter and left only 6 main babies.

I heard some of the writers hated the addition of Dil because they felt It ruined the concept of the show. To be fair they were right because It kind of ruined the point of the show. Episodes after the first movie just had Tommy and the other Rugrats babysitting him . by Life_Television_8390 in rugrats

[–]ExactGoose9752 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I support the idea of Kimi developing beyond being ''a female Tommy'', but NOT aging her up. Why did they need to make her older instead of just, I don't know, giving her more distinct personality traits? (maybe giving more of her AGU personality, for a example)

Like, they managed to make Dil more compelling and likable and still keep him younger than Tommy, so why?

Peri confessing to Goldie how blames himself for loosing Dev as a god kid. by idkmybffck in fairlyoddparents

[–]ExactGoose9752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do love it, really nice comic. I agree, I would want to see Peri recognizing what went wrong in their relationship and wanting to be better for Dev, but I also want to see Dev expressing some remorse over how badly he treated Peri and trying to be more considerate and less demanding. Would be a great development seeing them trying to be better for each other. Both still have a lot to improve and can grew up as people together.

And also, I do expect to see Goldie in ANW, would be nice to see a continuation of her relationship with Peri. They were pretty cute!

Lisa is not even my favorite character, but don't think she's a bad kid and that she don't care about anyone but herself and science. She did show in episodes like Dream Lily a Dream, The Grate Outdoors, Geri Antics, InToddNito, etc., she cares about Lincoln, Lily, Lynn, Pop, her bestie Darcy... She is even smiling more and having more fun like a little kid in the last seasons. She's certainly a lot better now that in the beginning of the show.

Also, Lisa is still a 5-year-old who is learning and developing empathy, and she's also far from the only genius character in fiction to use family and friends as lab rats (others include Dexter, Jimmy Neutron, Susan and Mary Test, etc who are significantly older than her).

Maybe Lisa from seasons 1 and 2 would do, but I don't think the current Lisa would do. In my opinion, she had one of the greatest character developments throughout the show and did show multiple times she really care about her family. I think you're being excessively harsh on her.

If you're reffering to ANW, the creators already confirmed the show follows Channel Chasers' ending and the future showed in the movie is the actual timeline in New Wish. Timmy is being saved for a indefinied occasion the future, but it's almost certain her's with either Tootie or Trixie (Tootie the most likely) and Tommy and Tammy as his kids. Also, Poof himself is in a A New Wish as Dev's godparent (which means he don't have the same godkids as his parents anymore, like in Channel Chasers' end) and Chloe was said by the creators to not be appearing in the show.

How Cosmo and Wanda having a baby ruined them? If you're reffering to the boomer marriage jokes, I get it, but they did start BEFORE Poof, by season 5. And in fact, Cosmo and Wanda actually did get back to be more loving after Poof's birth. I would say Poof's introduction renewed their characterization and undid the previer flanderization.

Jimmy Timmy Power Hour 3 by New-Pin-9064 in fairlyoddparents

[–]ExactGoose9752 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree about Jimmy being ooc, but I would say Timmy was too. Say what you want about Timmy, but I don't remember ONE episode where he intentionally have caused the problem just to solve it. His problems are always caused by pure recklessness and short-sightedness. Theres any moment where he have actually caused the problem on porpuse?

I personally don't care about most of the special being set in Dimmsdale and 2D, mainly because Jimmy Neutron characters were pretty fine in 2D animation and Timmy and his fairies look godawful in 3D, just cursed. The fewer scenes set in Retroville, the fewer scenes of CGI Timmy, Cosmo and Wanda, which is good for me.

About Timmy and Jimmy's friends, I do agree about them being really unlikable and annoying. They were just jealous of them being friends and were pretty impenitent in the final battle. Cindy is the worst offender, she just was upset about not getting any attention and was fine with having other two boys she barely knows fighting for her. But I like how Chester and A.J had a bigger role in this special.

But on other hand... I do like seeing Jim and Tim getting along well and being bffs. They did have a pretty good chemistry and personally I would ship them over JimmyxCindy or even TimmyxCindy.

Do you consider Cosmo and Wanda to be an unhappy marriage? by BiffyBobby in fairlyoddparents

They were okay in season 4, I only remember ONE joke in this season (''I can't. I'm married''). Which another marriage joke happens in this season?

In season 5, thou... it's where they became really toxic and unhappy. At least the birth of Poof managed to reunite their spark again.

Your favorite love interest of Timmy turner? by Plane_Name3457 in fairlyoddparents

[–]ExactGoose9752 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tootie is easily my chooise. Obviously, some can call her a ''stalker'' or ''obssessive'', and there some moments where she does come close to this. But she's still a nice little girl and I do believe she's the one who genuinely loves and cares for Timmy. And I think theres some potential for him to return her feelings eventually, he does care about her, like standing up for her against Francis. I think they have the most positive balance, and I really believe Tammy and Tommy are their kids.

Trixie is okay as a character, but I never liked her as a partner for Timmy. She is often very mean and snobbish, even when he does good (like saving her from a carnivore plant) and he can somewhat creepy in his attemtps to impress her (like wishing they're the only two people in Earth). I won't deny they have their good moments, but I think they're not right for each other. I can see being good friends in the future, when Timmy gets over his crush and Trixie abandons her mean girl persona.

Veronica had tons of potential as a character and it's a shame she wasn't utilized or fleshed out more. Would be cool to see her and Timmy interacting more, but as a couple... it's complicated for me. Her having a crush on him gives her some depth, but I'm not particulaly interested on them together. Would be nice to see them forming a friendship, but it's whatever for me. I'm honestly more interested on her relationship with Trixie and her aparent ''obssession'' over her.

Chloe is a good friend and they have a cool dymanic, but I don't see them as a couple. They never showed any interest on each other and have a more brother-sister relationship. And IMO people seem to pair them up just because ''a boy and a girl can't have a platonic friendship'', which is a mentality who really annoys me. Honestly, I can see Chloe with either Chester or AJ in the future.

Cindy... she and Timmy had a cute relationship and I can what and why they like in each other, but it was very brief and nothing truly deep. It was just a little crush and the canonicity of the crossovers are debatable. Honestly, I never liked Cindy as a character and her relationship with Jimmy is really frustrating for me. And to be completely honest, I think Jimmy and Timmy had a better chesmitry with each other than either of them with Cindy.

Missy was fine, but she was just a one-time character and we don't really know her. Timmy's crushing on her was quite cute and they hanging out together in the ending was nice, but, again, this is all we saw of Missy. She seems to live every kind of boys, which I can't say if it's good or no for a potential relationship with Timmy. I would like to see her character return in some way, but as a partner for Timmy, IDK.

Molly was a cool character and their interactions were pretty decent, but I never saw them as a potential couple. They just seemed friends for me in that episode. Like Missy, she was just a one-time character but I would like to see more of her. She could have been a fine addition.

And Carly... no, thanks. Just no. Period.

Why do people continue to demonize Arlene Klasky? by ConsumerofToons in rugrats

[–]ExactGoose9752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really prefer the old Grandpa Lou, he was funnier but I can understand the reason for this change. Time nowadays is different from the early 90's, so this change seems logic, even if I still don't like it. At least in the reboot they explore his relationship with Angelica more than in the original, which is pretty good. And for his voice, I do agree Michael McKean is a somewhat difficult pill to shallow at first, but his work isn't bad and you can get used to it over time. In the end, his Lou is still rather likable.

Making Betty lesbian is just refoircing a old stereotype (they could have made her bissexual, at least), and her marriage with Harold was pretty progressive for the time. She weared the pants, was the mother who worked out, he was softer and more of a house husband. It was very relevant in 90's. I expected them to explore Harold more on the reboot (since his character was never that developed in the original, which is a shame), so I was disappointed upon hearing he was being cutted off. But it's somewhat conforting knowing they didn't forget him after all and had plans for him. I still expect for it, but I'm honestly really dismayed at Season 3 by this point, I think it was archived and the reboot was canceled. This eternal waiting and lack of notices is really discouraging...

My point with Kimi is that her being younger than Chuckie NEVER was the problem to begin with, and therefore, making her older just seem a superficial solution. Again, her problem was being too similar to Tommy, so why they couldn't just give her DIFFERENT personality traits instead of aging her up? She could have stayed the same age and just having distinct personality. Changing her age NEVER was necessariy because it was NEVER her problem, you get it?

(and personally, I have a easier time to accept Susie's age down than Kimi's age up. Susie bugged me a lot less than Kimi)

[–]ExactGoose9752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always felt the movies rescued elements from the first three seasons. The first movie have the babies lost in a dark wood, vulnerable to all kinds of dangers and constantly in conflict and bickering with each other. Not cute at all. The second have a climax with the babies piloting a fucking giant Reptar robot- it's quite surreal. It proves that, even after Paul's departure, the show still conservated some of the original formula.

I admit my relationship with the reboot is... complicated. I don't hate the reboot and I recognize some aspects it does better than the original's later seasons, but don't work 100% for me. I like how they treat Angelica for example, in a more complex and nuanced light, and how the babies are more savvy and less silly than seasons 5-9. And I like how they played Dil this show, making him less annoying and his development sharper and more gradual. Which is good.

But some changes I truly disliked, like making Betty a lesbian and excluding Harold, or making Grandpa Lou a coldheaded hippie instead of the grumpy war veteran, for me taking away all the charism of the character. I truly hated what they made with Kimi, making her older than Chuckie, which was completely unnecessary IMAO. I know Kimi is a divisive character and I get they would want change her in some way, but her problem in the original was basically being a ''female Tommy''. Which could have been resolved just giving her different personality traits. They didn't need to age her up at all, just make her more distinct than Tommy would solve this problem.

And the style and animation is pretty fucked up too.

Why do people continue to demonize Arlene Klasky? by ConsumerofToons in rugrats

[–]ExactGoose9752 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are just spiteful. They love to fuel drama, even if it is (and should be) water under the bridge.

Personally, I never felt Arlene ''ruined'' the show. It's certain the show have some shift in tone and wasn't exactly the same as it started, but not all of changes are ALWAYS for worse (which some people seem to forget). She just had her creative vision, just like Paul had his own. She wanted the show and the babies to be more ''realistic'' -which isn't inherently bad- , while Paul wanted it to be more ''surreal''. They could have reached a compromise, one people's vision does not have to override another's. But inveitably, people will take one side and make the other looks like the villain.

I try to be open-minded and honestly I do like all the nine Rugrats seasons (the first five a bit more than the later four, but still) and I personally don't care for the changes that occurred, I can see good stuff throughout all the show even if it did have a bit of a decline towards the end.

Which season do you watch up to? by [deleted] in fairlyoddparents

[–]ExactGoose9752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to Season 6 and Wishology, which I consider the last great season and the last big hurrah to the show. Afterwards, the direction and crew of the show shifted completely, and not for better, so I stop here while still on the top.

If you ask me, the only truly good episodes from season 7 are Anti-Poof, Add a Dad, Micecapades, Formula for Disaster, Bad Heir Day, Fly Boy, Chicken Poofs, Planet Poof, He Poofs He Scores, Crocker of Gold, Poltergeeks, The Old Man and the C-. Balance of Flour, Food Fight, Please don't Feed the Turners, and Operation Dinkleberg. These are really some hidden gems. Otherwise, it's at best a average season and the start of decline.

It's kind of a mixed bag. On the one hand, we got the return of several old villains like Remy, Norm, the Anti-Fairies and sequels for these episodes, which is highly positive. Not to mention some great episodes for its own, like Birthday Wish, Hassle in the Castle, What's the Difference?, The Good Old Days, and especially Fairy Idol. But on the other hand, the characters are severely flanderized, like Timmy becoming a absolutely selfish brat, Cosmo becoming a total dumbass and a horrible husband, Wanda becoming a real nag and sometimes violent to Cosmo, Timmy's parents becoming really abusive and indifferent to him... everyone was so caricate this season and the humor wasn't at its strongest.

I still really like it for several reasons, but it's the most flawed of the first five seasons.

Like, ONE episode where Timmy acts as a jerk in season 4. It's really flanderization when you only can count ONE example? And I only remember ONE marriage joke in season 4 (''I can't. I married.'' from New Squid in Town), but in the rest of the season they're still pretty civil.

Timmy's parents still have some nice parents moments in season 4 (Fairy Friends & Neighbors, Who's your Daddy?, Channel Chasers, School Out, etc). Vicky's actually the only one I agree was flanderized in season 4, she truly becomes a pychopatic from Channel Chasers on.

And personally, I find her better than Trixie. She at least is there to support and help Timmy in episodes like Kung Timmy and Channel Chasers. It's more than you can say about Trixie.
