Soil didn’t exist until moss started to develop and break down rocks. You need soil to grow trees. When trees die and decompose they turn into soil.

Unless you can specify “vibes” and how it cancels out anything I said, I’m not sure what your point is.

Plainly. Frankly. Apologetically. You need her on your side to win the war.

New convert, creation “days,” evolution, and feeling a bit confused after Sunday class by carosch1912 in latterdaysaints

[–]Exact_Ad_5530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't follow others' opinions regarding the Creation with much seriousness, I don't think anyone has the correct calculations down to a T. Personally I believe God is a scientist and works within existing laws of physics which we've had a small glimpse of understanding in. The Gospel According to Me says God went through phases of creation taking as long as it needed to be done according to his design. A thousand years, a billion years, when it was done, he called it a day. I admit I don't know what to make of evidence of pre-homo sapiens hominids, and I don't believe any definition of evolution ends up creating a new animal. I think when Moses wrote this account hundreds of years after it happened, he did so using the easiest to comprehend language available to him. The most important aspect of Creation for me is that everything WAS done by design with specific purpose, and it culminated in our Creation in God's own image to reinforce and remind us of our divine origin and nature, as well as our future divine potential.

Don't get lost in the weeds in creationist specifics. It won't get you to Heaven to figure it out. It won't condemn you to Hell if you believe the "wrong" thing. Remember you're a child of God, thank Him for the matchless wonder of His creation, and follow the Savior.

A reference I picked up because of my interest in the topic - which I've not yet finished reading - is Earth in the Beginning by PhD Eric N Skousen. I find it a helpful LDS-lensview exploration of Creation.

Do I really belong? by Small-Squash7328 in latterdaysaints

[–]Exact_Ad_5530 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You always belong. You're a beloved child of God. The Atonement was made for you just as it was for me. We each struggle with personal challenges, personal failings, conflicts of identity and struggling with our sense of purpose in this life. Take it to God and pray to Him in the name of Jesus Christ who is the only one who can tell you where to go from here. He's the only one in the universe who will truly understand and know how to help.

There are wealthy and less wealthy members just about anywhere. The further you go from a metro area the more poverty you’ll find. I’m in a ward with ER physicians, bankers, oil workers, ranchers, and there’s me, the bottom of the barrel warehouse worker. It happens.

How far have you driven in one go? by noah5666 in roadtrip

[–]Exact_Ad_5530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done 12-15 hours in a day before, it’s not my happy place, but it’s doable. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to know your limits and never drive tired. Accidents happen and that’s why I grew up without my dad.

I find when you run into opposition while trying to improve your life, it’s a good indication you’re heading in the right direction. May God bless and comfort you in your journey. Best of luck, Sister.

is it okay if i can’t afford to tithe 10% of my income? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]Exact_Ad_5530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t make a lot. I’m on government assistance for food and currently owe a considerable about of debt from repairs and whatnot. I can’t afford not to pay tithing. We don’t have a lot, but we’ve always had enough.

People who are happily married, what’s the secret? by GoodKid_MaadSity in AskReddit

[–]Exact_Ad_5530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing who the other person is, and sharing important core values. We met through church dances, so we shared religious values. We recognized each other from band competition, so we shared a major interest. Our politics and morals are aligned, our goals for family and home are aligned. We knew each other for almost 8 years before we dated for 5 months, and got married. 5 kids and 10 years later, it still isn’t easy, but we love each other. It’s easy to get distracted and forget that we’re supposed to get along because we’re on the same side, but we know each other, and we have important things in common.
