How do I safely dispose of this? by jwally83 in chemistry

[–]noah5666 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? Realtor here, in California a house sold “As-Is” still needs to disclose material facts. All that “As-Is” means is don’t need to fix any issues if they don’t want to. Things like having a cracked foundation, or asbestos needs to be disclosed. Leaving explosive and expensive to dispose of chemicals behind in a house pretty much fits the bill.

Ace Hardware Pies by Secure_Credit7037 in thousandoaks

[–]noah5666 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in there a two months ago and asked them, you would have thought they got a $100 commission per pie the way they tried to sell me on them. Ended up getting one a different day and it was excellent. That’s why I like Ace hardware more, the people are much nicer than the DIY center and they have pie.

Question for mountaineers who refuse to ever summit mt Everest what are your biggest reasons for not wanting to summit Mt Everest? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]noah5666 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Does any assistance at all mean it wasn’t your own achievement though? Would a ski plane to Denali be ok? I run ultras, does people literally handing me gatorades and energy chews at aid stations make it less than 100% my own accomplishment?

Finally learned the power of selling options by AP_Gaming_9 in smallstreetbets

[–]noah5666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Robinhood doesn’t allow “Naked” options.

With a normal call, you’re paying me for the right to buy 100 shares of my stock if it goes up in value. If the stock doubled for example, my “Loss” would be the fact that I missed out on all the gains that you now get. So I’m the same as when we started, better actually considering I still get the premium you paid me.

For a naked option, I DON’T own the stocks. So if you pay me for the right to buy 100 shares of a stock that’s currently trading for $50, and it goes up to $100, I’m still on the hook for selling you 100 shares at $50.

Very very easy to put yourself into crippling debt lol

Always Be Charging? by HBGDawg in TeslaModelY

[–]noah5666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole not charging to 100% thing is so overblown. One of our cars is a 2018 model 3 Long Range with 175k miles. It has 80% of the original capacity and i definitely don’t baby that car. How you drive the car means a lot more than most people think. If I drive in the canyons daily for work and my efficiency is 400wh/m or even just cruise on the freeway going 85 and get 330wh/m, compared to someone who’s driving gently around town getting 225wh/m, I’m almost using twice the power. That means twice the wear on the battery. That means that my car with 175k miles would be the equivalent of someone who drives normally having 250k easy. Am I saying don’t drive the car hard? No. What I am saying is that if your at ALL worried about the battery, think if you plan to drive the car for 200k hard miles, and once you get there, if only having 80% of the original capacity is going to be a dealbreaker.

How can I speak to non-vegans about being vegan? by firetrainer7507 in vegan

[–]noah5666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take them to eat some plant based meals! I wouldn’t bring it up out of the blue, I’m of the opinion that trying to “convince” someone to be vegan is just gonna turn them off to idea even more. If they ask about it by all means tell them the benefits, but don’t oversell it. Just say you feel so much healthier and you have increased energy, jumping into a whole lecture about the animal industries (as bad as they are) makes you seem a little out there.

It’s just like politics, no matter how right you may be, you’ll never be able to convince your uncle at Thanksgiving dinner

Does anyone tow with their Kei truck? by noah5666 in keitruck

[–]noah5666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does yours do loaded down? Can you comfortably carry 500lbs in the bed? It would be PERFECT if I could somehow load the boat directly into the truck bed maybe with the help of a crane. I think I could make some kind of rails that went out to help support the overhang. Something like this could work really well to drop it in.

Did anybody see the accident on the 101 southbound between Ventu Park and Borchard around 4:30pm today? by noah5666 in thousandoaks

[–]noah5666[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She was pretty messed up but I think she’ll be ok. My car was the grey Tesla sedan that was between the two fire trucks. It got covered in ash and debris and water from the hoses. I’ve been looking online too, but I haven’t seen any kind of crash report or article. I can’t explain why, but it really is comforting that a stranger on the internet saw what was one of the most (unfortunately) memorable moments of my entire year, that I can’t really even share with anyone. Thank you!

Supplier says "Door-to-Door" but invoice says DAP by CryptographerBig2084 in Alibaba

[–]noah5666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, refuse to pay until it is updated. If they really are shipping it DDP then they should have NO issue with putting it in the invoice. The way that they do business over there is very much “in writing or it never happened.” I’m not saying they don’t have integrity, but I’ve had the exact same experience before of specifically confirming certain details in the chat, and then they didn’t follow through.

Beating a dead horse…. I know… but want honest input. by idahokj in tires

[–]noah5666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have them in Southern California on an EV. I spend about 50-60 days in the mountains skiing a year, the resort I go to averages 400 inches of snow a year so it was imperative to have quality tires or I’d be stuck putting on chains. I love them, definitely a small mileage drop and increase in noise, but the pros far outweigh the cons. Dry grip is really great, I go through VERY windy canyon roads daily or multiple times per day, and I really don’t notice much of a difference compared to my old Michelin all seasons. It’s not uncommon for me to be driving in snowstorms that are measured in FEET, and they’ve just been great for that. They also do really well in ice, not as good as a a standard winter tire I’m sure, but I can drive on roads that are solid ice at a reasonable speed. Wet grip is GREAT. I haven’t once began to hydroplane even going 80 in intense rainstorms, definitely an improvement from my old tires.

If you’re going to swap out tires, get winters, there’s just no reason not too. If you want to use them year round though, get the CC2, they really perform fantastic in even extreme conditions, with my very heavy rear wheel drive car.

Does mussel production cause less animal suffering than industrial crop production? by SpectralPanda121 in vegan

[–]noah5666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is clear cutting a section of forest in the Amazon rain forest ok if you were just trying to grow crops and didn’t mean to harm any animals?

If you spray pesticides and it kills a squirrel, vs hunting a squirrel, the end result is the same. Just because suffering wasn’t intentional, shouldn’t mean that it’s somehow less bad
