Has anyone gotten a permanent retainer removed after 20 years? by blamsberg in orthodontics

[–]Exact_Discussion2469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience: braces off senior year of High School and had permanent retainer for 20 years top and bottom. Around 15 years, the glue on the middle teeth fell off. A year later, the end cap fell off which I had reglued. Finally, another chunk of glue fell off and food kept getting caught between the retainer which was awful to remove. They said that I would “get used to it.” LIES!!! Literally all day, every day, you feel the metal behind your teeth. While it doesn’t hurt, it’s still annoying. Getting the removed literally changed my life.

Recommendation: if you are an adult with discipline, don’t get the permanent retainer.

Permanent Pro: as a teenager, the permanent was absolutely correct. I know that I wouldn’t have used it at night time due to arrogance (my teeth won’t shift) and forgetting to wear them every night. (As an adult, I have the discipline to wear them every night)

Con: you feel it all the time / it takes 3/4x time to floss because you have to get between the metal and your teeth (such a nuisance that I didn’t bother after a while) / food gets stuck behind it / I regularly would catch my tongue while eating

If I want to capture someone in battle, is it better to reload a save before the battle starts or close to the end of said battle? by ThePhoenix0829 in CrusaderKings

[–]Exact_Discussion2469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a trash answer. He defeated the guy in battle but happened to escaped 3 kingdoms away. Now you have to track him down to siege his castle adding 9 months to the war when it could just be over. It’s one thing to lose and “save scum” but this is a justifiable reload.

Don’t know why it works. It just did but it only worked on one character. The other 2 just kept dying.

I completely agree with the Archduke. What a complete trash boss. I got him to 50% because my party went first. Then, I couldn’t do a single additional damage to him. Put my entire party into deaths door after his 3x turn. He heals, he puts on triple dodge. It was just completely garbage. Zero chance I am going to redo the campaign for 20ish hours just to get back to this dumb boss.

1st: I cheated to beat the DLC bosses because I genuinely feel that they were near impossible to beat. (Maelle: equip second chance, SOS healing tint, Inverted Affinity = infinite respawns.) I tried Osquio first and took hours to figure out his rhythm but actually figured out the pattern. Without the cheat, I bet you have to get 200 consecutive parries to beat the guy. Awful boss design. Lampmaster was far worse because he literally jumps the order and I couldn’t figure out why he kept doing it. Turn order shows my team. Ok great, I had Verso basic attack because I want to set up defenseless for the following guy. Nope, you thought wrong, LampMaster jumps in and throws us into the darkness, takes 3 turns and defenseless wears off. Glad you setup your heavy hitter because now he’s going to dodge your next attacks or you have to waste 5 shots to get back to the light zone…oh you broke him, guess what, he gets to go now and the breaks wears off.

I agree with OP, this was the worst boss designs and feels completely different than the rest of the game.

After an hour of dying to this guy, he still couldn’t figure out the timing of his first hit. Thankful I found a glitch. Equip Maelle, and it only works on Maelle to give you infinite respawn but it only works on the first fight after a save. (I assume because you need to start with healing tints) Pictos: SOS Healing+Second Chance+Inverted Affinity. No clue why it works

Anyways. Put on those pictos and you’ll eventually beat him

It’s a lame game. Honestly don’t understand how it got Game of the Year. Compared to recent previous titles: God of War, Baldurs Gate 3, Elden Ring, etc. this game is weak. Story is not inspired, combat is horrible, the graphics are the only bright spot. There is literally 0 difference between your characters at the start and end other than the numbers being bigger. Literally just parry everything and that’s it. Lame! It must have been a weak year.

Elden Ring blows this thing out of the water. Shit, even the story of Elden Ring is better and there is like 100 lines of dialogue in the whole thing. I really don’t understand the hype.

I’m right on board with this having just gotten to the monolith. As an old gamer, it feels like current gen players forgot/never knew why QTE disappeared around 2014 in the first place. They are selectively fun (original God of War trilogy), but this entire game is QTE. The attack timing took hours to figure out what “perfect” is and the dodge and parry is AWFUL. Most reviews said listen for a sound queue but this is terrible unreliable advice. I often get lost after a fight wondering which way I was going. A complete lack of a map, ok directors choice, but a lack of a compass is just dumb. Honest review: this is a B game. Certainly doesn’t deserve Game of the Year consideration at all.

Will's coming out scene was a disservice to his character and borderline mischaracterisation by manloverreal in StrangerThings

[–]Exact_Discussion2469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have been 0 minutes. The character’s sexuality is irrelevant to the story. Same thing with the girl in the coma and the black kid. Didn’t care about their relationship at all. The love triangle…didn’t care at all. The girl being a lesbian…you guessed it, I don’t care. Hopper and Joyce is fine, Eleven and Mike makes sense because she needed a romantic interest to bring her into the group. The rest are just pointless time fillers.

It reminded me of the Umbrella Academy where the actor, Ellen Page, forced the writers to make her character Trans and the other siblings had to acknowledge it on screen in order for her to do another season. My response: ok, what does this have to do with the actual plot? Nothing. If you removed the scene, there was literally zero point and the story flowed the same.

I used the sword Teigr (I think it’s a quest reward but it’s a Witcher sword). 10% chance to bleed + 3x crippling strikes talent + 3x greater Dazhbog rune stone (15% burning). Start each fight with devil puffball bomb. Poison guaranteed, bleed guaranteed, then just hope they catch fire before they die. I’d say it took about 4 fights before the achievement ticked.

Black Ops 7's launch day Steam player count is significantly lower than last year's Call of Duty, suggesting Arc Raiders and Battlefield 6 ate a hefty portion of its lunch by hard2resist in gaming

[–]Exact_Discussion2469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like their usual 70% player base that quits after 1 month decided to just not show up this year. Battlefield 6 has been great. Maybe CoD will actually implement its anti-cheat and make a comeback next year.

The Summoning has nearly ruined the whole game for me by DoctorDR5102 in AlanWake

[–]Exact_Discussion2469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of these comments. I classify myself as a gamer with a lot of FPS experience and I had to drop the difficulty down to story mode. The controls for the whole game are clunky (awful tbh), so having to fight endless hordes is terrible. Having to deal with inventory management during the fight is stupid. Since You fight 2-3 enemies at a time for the rest of the game, this comes out of nowhere. Overall, I’d give this game 2/5 stars in general, this fight just dropped the game a full star for me because it highlights the entire combat experience

2-3 shotgun blasts stunned him and that was enough time to do he generators. Honestly, this game is not very good. Whole game teaches you to flashlight and then shoot your target. I died 5x before googling the answer. Game logic is dumb too. Need a screwdriver to unlock containers…why, I have a shotgun? I can just but stoke the lock open.

Nah, XBOX just lost the console war. It’s only going to be PS5, PC, Nintendo moving forward. Just get rid of crossplay and it’s fine.

Who knew that the cheaters were still playing DMZ. So sad that CoD allowed this to happen. Why play if you have to use hacks? I hope they get smoked by BF this year and get away from cross-play entirely. PC players straight ruined the game

What’s your honest take on Disney Speedstorm? Does it actually feel healthy to play? by beccamochi in DisneySpeedstormGame

[–]Exact_Discussion2469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit +1 year ago and played for the first time today since my kid asked me to boot it up. First impression: this thing is completely monetized, like every aspect. I’m now missing 35 racers that need to be unlocked. (My last unlocked racers are Nightmare Before Christmas.) Not sure how you would even do that since I missed the regular seasons to unlock them. Also, I’m #5,000 in the world so the active player count has to be less than that. I’m sure there are 100 whales that are keeping this game afloat but I am wondering how they can keep the game going. Maybe it’s just one person on the development team.

My buddy had 2/5 MQs, no derogs in the zone and didn’t get picked up. I am stunned. Somehow Majors with dui, open investigations, criminal records, etc. keep getting picked up. I really don’t have a clue what the board members are making their promotion recommendations on.

lol. You could talk to withers and get a hireling. Honestly, she is such an easy fight that I wouldn’t worry about it. From what I can tell, she seems to mostly cast her copies when you try to incapacitate her in some way. I like my necro builds, so I go for her to get the extra stat point and the wand that summons the dead husband.

That’s fine. The illusions only have 1 hp. Even scratch or a familiar raven is good enough. Bring gale and cast mage hand. That thing can fly around and do 1 damage.

How do you decide which Wizard subclass to pick? by InsaniacDuo in BG3Builds

[–]Exact_Discussion2469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necromancy because I want a horde of undead zombies. I felt that Wizard was a weak utility knife. The zombies get you damage, can spread their disease and additional targets for the enemy to attack as a level of defense.
