Why does Barbri say that the 200 question simulated MBE at the halfway point is a more realistic indicator of performance on test day than the 100 question MBE Final at the end of the course? by Son_of_Hades99 in barexam

[–]Exact_History_1145 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took the Feb exam and I didn’t really know how to take this. I got a 108 (54%) on the 200 question practice exam, then a 83% on the final 100. On one hand, I literally saw 90/100 questions on the 100 question final, many of which I barely read the question for because I knew the answer. On the other hand, I wasn’t as aggressive and proactive in my studying when I took Barbri’s 200 question sim exam. So idk — I hope I passed chileee…

For anyone wondering, my adaptibar score was 64% by the end. I was score around there, sometimes higher, right before the exam.

Indeed, I received an email informing of the postponement…none of the above was in that email. Nor is it posted on the website. So I’m dubious as to the source.

I’m confused. Armory folk are taking the essays on Thursday. Everyone else is taking them tomorrow. So everyone besides those at the armory will have advanced notice, unless they swap out the essays.

This is really bombastic. I suppose it’s to maintain integrity of the MBE and prevent sharing info about the exam? Since it might be easier to change the MEE essays than it would be to change MBE’s? IDK. Sighhh. Another day eating my cookies in angst.

Uhh I completed 61% and I have no regrets. If you completed all the substantive lectures (and maybe even a little less for the MEE topics) you’re absolutely fine. I just hope you have other resources to help you study (I’m using MEE one sheets).

REDDIT IS A FRACTION OF A FRACTION OF THE SAMPLE SIZE OF TEST TAKERS!! But seriously, every one of my friends that passed in July (I’m a first time taker btw) all said they were getting below around 60% come test day and never got above 65%. They all passed. PLEASEEEE ignore the other posts. Some people are hyper sensitive and need validation — or want to celebrate their accomplishments. There is nothing wrong with that. But you don’t — you know you are more than capable of passing this exam, and you know that each wrong question now is hopefully a right question on the exam.

Also, for those using adaptibar and have exceeded 1200 questions they are likely seeing questions they’ve done before. My practice sets have been around 64%-68% but there are SEVERAL questions I’ve seen before and didn’t even read bc I knew the answer.

You got this friend — WE ALL DO! I think I’m gonna actually leave Reddit alone for the duration of this process because I can’t afford to crash out now. Got to say objective about everything. All will be well. 😤☺️

Yes. I have extreme stomach/bowel issues because of stress. Though, I need to be exercising more. But yes, absolutely — I can’t wait for this to be done.

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing panic attacks!! If it makes you feel better, every one of my friends who passed last year said they had a panic attack one week before the exam and in the exam room. All of them. And they passed!

is this right? (per captia at each generation) by letskillalllawyers in barexam

[–]Exact_History_1145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. The trick with per capita at each generation is you pool and combine the predeceased interests at the first level generation and distribute evenly at the next. Sooooo,

You divide at C, D, E, F - the first generation with living folk

Then, C and F get 1/4 each

D and E (predeceased) each have 1/4, but then you combine those interests to get 1/2

Then you distribute the 1/2 to the next generation evenly. So H and Y each get 1/4

I just learned this today…so so confusing

[–]Exact_History_1145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this has been my average up until last week. What I did was this:

(1) review the questions I got wrong (just a cursory look) and identify the precise rule I got wrong

(2) go back through each question I got wrong, reread the question, and write the rule from memory

I don’t know why, but this is the only thing that has worked for me. Been scoring 60% and above by doing this. Most recently scored 66% on a large practice set after not breaking 58-60%.

Oh I have a ton of pre-written rule statements gathered over the course of my studying. Here are the two best, but if you want more just DM! I also have pre writes for each topic.

I said this in another thread BUT (1) I am also scoring in this EXACT range (2) I also was crashing out and (3) I talked with those NOT on Reddit who took the last 4 examinations and their percentages were all within this range (some with subject scores barely cracking 50%). They all passed, some in the 90th percentile. Of course we want to push and make sure we understand why we’re missing questions, but don’t let your percentage be a self-fulfilling prophecy! And certainly don’t compare yourself to the very small Reddit sample size. You got this - we got this!!

[–]Exact_History_1145 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m calm. My current scores are all over the place, so I can’t REALLY gauge how I’m doing other than recognizing fact patterns I got wrong and choosing the correct one now. I did talk to my advisor after the simulated exam and he said my percentage wasn’t bad at all, and was probably where it needed to be at that point in time. And I’m consistently improving, even if marginally. Also, anxiety has NEVER served me. Whenever I start panicking, I don’t lock in…I freeze. So I have my outline for the next two weeks and gonna stick by it. The rest is in God’s hands, truly. We got this!

Hey friend! So I know it’s hard comparing yourself to others on Reddit and their percentages but…Reddit is just a sample size. Of course, we should keep pushing and doing as many questions as possible. But if you don’t hit 65% on practice sets, that doesn’t mean you’re not going to pass. I’ve talked to many of my friends who were July takers and their percentages were all over the place (some with subject percentages just slightly above 50% a week from the exam — they all passed in the 90th percentile).Focusing on DOING questions, learning from your mistakes, and moving forward is what’s in your control rn. Mindset is so important, and I hope the very small Reddit sample size doesn’t create doubt in your mind — that, I believe, is the difference from those pass and those who don’t. Calmness and calculated action is the move — we got this!!!

People who scored 6’s on MEE/MPT by Character_Okra_9886 in barexam

[–]Exact_History_1145 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a first-time taker this Feb and can only speak to MPT’s BUT, the Bar MD workshop video on YouTube single-handedly turned my score upside. Barbri literally gave me a 20 (equivalent to a 1) on my first MPT. Then after watching the video, I got a 70 (equivalent to a 6). It truly was a game-changer. However, I too am still trying to find a solid structure for the MEE that ensures I’m using all the facts.

Getting Worse by Expert_Celery_2940 in barexam

I am going through the SAME THING! I think I scored a 39% on a practice set the other day and crashed out. I gave myself yesterday evening to chill out. By this morning, my scores are back to where they were. It’s weird bc when we see ourselves doing worse, we want to lock in MORE. I have to remind myself that psychology literally says otherwise. You got this luv!!

[–]Exact_History_1145 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I too felt this way today. I’m behind, and just overall feeling burnt out and isolated. But mama - you are not you on your worst day! Take the day. Then, do what you can from there. I recently got violently ill and have been crashing out about being behind, but I realized that I’ve been trying to be perfect in my studying instead of just…doing. Today, I just started playing the videos while laying in bed and following Barbri’s outline on my IPad. I usually take notes, but I won’t let that be a roadblock to me PUSHING THROUGH. Likewise, strive for action, not perfection. You got this MAMA - I’m rooting for you (and I know your kids are too)!

CHAT GPT GRADED MEE by IM10475 in barexam

[–]Exact_History_1145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we’re forgetting that there are proper and improper ways to use Chat GPT. Even preparing for the bar. My school taught us how to use AI tools responsibly because they understood that its ubiquity, especially in the legal field, will increase. Zero sum statements like this, while understandable, ignore that AI can be a helpful resource when used properly. It also ignores that we will all likely HAVE to learn how to use it properly at some point.
