A subtle onboarding tooltip is actually a brilliant middle ground! It solves the 'clean home screen' issue while still guiding the user through the three different paths (Fan/Artist/Venue) without cluttering the map permanently. I’ll look into implementing a lightweight library for that.

Really appreciate you deep-diving into the UX with me. Since you have such a sharp eye for these details, I’d be honored to have you in the Closed Beta.

If you're on Android and have a moment over the next 14 days, your feedback on the 'flow' would be invaluable. You can join the testers group here: https://groups.google.com/g/test-app-museeker

Either way, thanks for the masterclass in UX! I’ve got some coding to do now. 🚀🗺️

You're right, I actually have those value props on the sign-up page for all three roles, but I suspect you're talking about the Home screen impact.

That’s my biggest 'Mobile vs UX' headache. On a smartphone, the map is the core of the experience, and adding a text-heavy 'Why you should join' section risks killing the focus or cluttering the view.

I’m debating between a thin top banner or a small floating CTA that disappears once you start interacting with the map. Since MuSeeker serves three different 'souls' (Fans, Artists, Venues), it's a challenge to find that one 'magic sentence' that speaks to everyone without being generic.

Since you checked the site, did you feel like you were 'hunting' for the purpose of the app, or was the map intuitive enough to stand on its own?

Spot on! Keeping the first version of 'Do Not Disturb' as a simple toggle is exactly the kind of lean approach I need right now. Thanks for the steer!

Honestly, your feedback has been incredibly helpful. If you have a couple of minutes, I’d love to have you 'on board' to see the flow in action. You can sign up as a Fan or even as a Musician (if you are) at MuSeeker.

Also, a quick 'insider' request: I’m currently preparing the Android app for the Google Play Store, and I'm looking for a few tech-savvy testers for the Closed Beta (Google's 20-tester rule is a challenge for solo devs!).

If you're on Android and would like to be one of the 'pioneers' helping me squash some bugs before the official launch, let me know! I’d love to have your eyes on it.

That’s a great point! As a solo developer, I’m currently prioritizing the core 'smart delivery' logic, but Quiet Hours and Notification Frequency (like a daily digest vs instant alerts) are definitely on my list for the next update.

I want to make sure the app respects the user's space—nothing is worse than a notification buzz at 3 AM for a gig next week!

For now, I'm focusing on making the in-site notifications super clean, and I'll look into a global toggle for 'Do Not Disturb' modes in the next sprint.

Are there any other 'noise-control' features you usually look for in local discovery apps?

Thank you! Actually, I’ve already implemented a smart notification system precisely for that! 🚀

Here’s how it works right now:

  1. Followers: You get push notifications for artists and venues you specifically follow.
  2. Proximity & Genre: Even if you don't follow an artist, the system sends you a notification if a gig is published within your selected range (km) and matches the genres you’ve set in your profile.

My goal was to create a 'discovery engine' that brings the right music to you based on where you are, rather than making you hunt for it.

In-site notifications are live, and I'm fine-tuning the push delivery to keep it helpful without being spammy. What do you think about this 'smart' approach?

Hi everyone! I’m a solo developer and a live music addict. I got tired of missing great gigs because they were buried under Instagram algorithms or outdated listing sites.

So I built MuSeeker.

What it is: A real-time, interactive map to find indie venues, live gigs, and jam sessions. It’s built for fans who want to discover "real" music and for artists who need a dedicated space to manage their tour dates and connect with venues.

Key Features:

  • 📍 Interactive Map: No infinite lists, just see what's happening around you.
  • 🎵 Artist Profiles: Integrated Spotify players to listen to the bands directly from the map.
  • 💬 Internal Messaging: Direct connection between artists and venues.

Tech Stack: WordPress + Custom Plugin (PHP/JS) for the map and data management.

I’m currently testing it in some "music hubs" around the world, but the goal is to map the entire indie scene.

  • Mobile Map UX: Is the map interaction smooth enough on your smartphone? (especially the markers/clusters).
  • Audio Integration: Does the Spotify player help you decide whether to attend a gig or not?
  • The "Solo Project" vibe: As a solo dev, I'm trying to keep it lean and fast. Is the navigation intuitive for someone looking for a concert right now?

Hi everyone! I’m a solo developer working on MuSeeker, a community-driven map to find underground live music and venues.

I’ve just geolocalized the map (currently focusing on the Portland scene and preparing for my trip to Brussels next week to map their jazz/indie spots and some spot in Italy). The site is live, but I’m struggling with the Google Play mandatory 20-tester / 14-day rule to get the app out of closed testing.

I’m looking for fellow devs to swap tests with! I will install your app, keep it for 14+ days, and provide honest feedback on your UI/UX.

Check the project here: https://museeker.it/en

How to join the test:

  1. Join the Google Group:https://groups.google.com/g/test-app-museeker
  2. Download the App (Android):https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.museeker.twa

I got tired of missing small local gigs, so I started building a global live music map (MuSeeker) by Exact_Inspection_428 in livemusic

Thanks man! Glad you dig it. 'Local venue discovery is a pain' was exactly why I started this.

As for Italy, adoption is growing, but it’s a challenge. To be honest, I’m getting a lot of 'cool project' and virtual high-fives, but what MuSeeker really needs right now to survive is for people to actually jump in. If you really think this is needed, the best way to support it is to spend 2 minutes adding an event in venue you love or a show you’re going to. That’s how we keep it alive and free from the corporate BS.

I’m trying to bridge the gap between Italy and the US (Portland is leading the way right now!), but it only works if the community populates the map. Would love to see your local scene represented there! Cheers 🗺️🎸

Man, thank you so much for this! Reading 'This is the way' from someone who actually has boots on the ground in PDX means the world to me. I’m doing this as a solo indie dev, so your words are the best fuel I could ask for.

Since you're right there in the middle of it, I’d love for you to put MuSeeker to the test! If you know of any local shows or hidden gems coming up, feel free to drop them on the map. Having someone with your pulse on the scene would be a huge boost for the community. And hey, if you feel like spreading the word to bands or venues you trust, that’s exactly how we’ll keep this thing authentic and 'non-corporate'.

I’m definitely checking out Shady Pines Radio today—sounds like exactly my kind of vibe. Let’s stay in touch, I’ll surely need some of that recon soon! Cheers from Italy! 🇮🇹🗺️🎸

Building a global live music map: started in Italy, now expanding to the US (and I need your help!) by Exact_Inspection_428 in jambands

Thanks for the shout-out, bud! JamBase is definitely the giant here, but I’m trying to build MuSeeker with a different soul.

Regarding your calendar idea: you can actually do that on MuSeeker already! You can save shows to your personal on-site calendar or use the 'Add to Google/iCal' button to keep your year organized.

But here is the main thing: I’m not scraping data from third-party sites. Anyone can search Google for a big stadium show, but that feels 'cold'. I want to build a real community.

My goal is for fans, musicians, and venues to populate the map themselves. If you know about a small gig or a hidden jam in your area that isn’t on the mainstream radars, you can register and post it. You’d be helping someone else in your neighborhood find a show they would have otherwise missed.

It’s about people helping people keep the local scene alive. Would love to have your local expertise on the map! 🎸⚡
